Straight off let me say I think this is a load of bunk.
I'm posting this for a few reasons.

1 - Doom porn is a hoot. We'll enjoy heckling it.

2 - More than a few people seem to think that every time someone claims that God is talking to someone, it's automatically true. So on October 4th, when this thing hasn't happened, perhaps those people will finally understand that not everyone who claims visions from God really gets them.

So .. in the spirit of 'failure watch' ... I present the following 'prophecy' -

9.7 Earthquake Coming to West Coast USA on Oct 3, 2013

Three independent sources have recently claimed the Lord told them a large earthquake is going to hit the west coast of the United States on Thursday, October 3, 2013. Two of these sources identified the earthquake will measure 9.7 on the Richter scale. That would make it the largest earthquake in recorded history. ...

According to these sources, the Golden Gate Bridge will be broken in half by the tsunami. The remains of the bridge will be moved into a vertical position. The San Francisco valley will be flooded with water.

The following provides testimonies from each of these three sources.

The article goes on to state exactly the 'prophecies' from the people.

And of course, if a 9.7 hits the USA West Coast, I'll admit that I jumped the gun in automatically dismissing these 'prophecies'. However, looking at the other articles on the site, I have to say I'm very confident this 'prophecy' isn't going to come to pass. Other articles include ... 'the housing bubble is about to burst' ... HELLO? The housing bubble burst years ago. There is no housing bubble.

There is actually quite a lot of speculation over this on google. I also noticed, that a forum member recently mentioned on the 19th that they had a couple of odd jolts in his area. There is a volcano in Long Valley that people are watching as well. Lets pray that all this is hype, and not actually something to contend with. Because if a mag. 9.7 did hit that area, it certainly would affect the entire continent not just the west coast. Tsunami's are not the worst thing, but those volcano's have been heating up and could pop like balloons!
It's my hope that if they really are talking to "Jesus", then this is not God's plan.

It's just coincidence but my power went out for a second just after I read this post and it freaked me the heck out! It's not even raining or anything so I don't know what happened. I'm not claiming it has anything to do with this at all, it was just weird.

Well ... as long as the ground isn't shaking I guess it's not the 9.7 coming early.
Kinda interesting though .. when spooky things like that happen!
(just in time for Halloween season - bwahahahahaaa)

God told them? Ummm.... Well, I think God is also telling them they need psych help and living too much in the world of doom and conspiracy is unhealthy. I think they just lost that part in the static.

Now if it happens? Well... It'll pretty well knock this bunny down for awhile, since I have dozens of family members between San Diego and the Grapevine. Even the simulations that usually show L.A. with localized damaged up to huge quakes in the 7's and higher? 9.7 would make "localized" a really really big term.

Having said that...I think I'll hold until the 4th, before warning family... lol... Then, if proven after that fact, I'll say we have the best evidence yet seen in the modern world for communication from ourselves or others in one possible future timeline where it became possible. It still wouldn't be God.

(Even Noah didn't get a Wiki-level summary with detail about the rainy days to come. God's own book never showed Him to be specific to that level.)

I lived in the SF bay area for ten years. Every year, the local news would beef up their "The big one is coming" media blitz right around the anniversary of the big SF quake that happened in the turn of the century. It used to make me nervous, so i always wondered just how many people felt nervous about it. It seems as if the "big one" has been threatening to come, since the one my boyfriend went through the Loma Prieta. Which was big.

Anyway, one of our reasons for moving far away from a metropolis was due to my own intuition about needing to get away from the bay area. I've been waiting since 2006 far up here in the mountains to see if my feelings prove right.

For my future in laws who still live out there, I sure hope it never comes true.

Oh boy I really do like the gloom and doom stuff, as it makes one think. But after reading such, and looking at them the following can be stated:
I predict that on Oct 3, 2013 will happen: The sun will come up. Children will have to go to school. There will be earthquakes, in California and Alaska, but nothing that the citizens of those states have not felt and ignored before. In the City of San Francisco, it will be cool in the morning with it warming up as the day progresses. The legislators from California and in the state of California will continue to govern as they see fit, to include unwise laws. Someone in the state of California is going to die. Someone in the state of California are going to be born. And a few in the land of fruits and nuts will have a buzz on. And as the sun sets, and it turns to Oct 4, the world will wake up and look at the person who made the gloom and doom forecast and wonder, what were you taking and how come you did not share?

Not saying I believe this, but, there have been some pretty big earthquakes over in Iran, over this past week, and just this morning.

I know next to nothing about plate tectonics, but, If stress is being relieved in one place, it's building up in the opposite side of the plate.

By the way Flyer, I am also a lover of doom porn. It's funny to see sometimes just how off the wall it is!

But I thought the world is ending on 10/1/13 predicted by an autistic with 100% hit rate. Pretty sure 5 predictions since 911.

So how can he be wrong now? And if the world ends then, who cares about a huge earthquake no one will feel?

No, it means these people have read the kid's story on the internet and then made a prophecy of their own almost matching the dates...

Actually . . . Bro Wrabbit . . .

God WAS quite specific in a number of Old Testament and some NT cases.

The plagues in Egypt come to mind . . . other exhortations of some of the prophets to kings and enemies . . . Elisha, Jeremiah,

Whether HE has spoken in this case, or not, I don't know.

It is unusual for 3 diverse, disconnected, evidently genuine Christians to have the same dreams about the same time period. I don't recall that ever happening before. Therefore what, I don't know but it is unusual.

Were I in SF, I'd take a few days away, given the givens.

Skepticism to a point is wisdom.

Humility is also wisdom.

Specific enough to indicate to the first decimal point, what man made technology would measure something at? I mean, in comparative terms to what would fit back to those times..... I'd have to say, not that I've read. The symbolism and lack of true clarity is what is most maddening in some ways, in fact.

I think this is seeing what we'd like to see in a report we'd normally catch on the Check-out line papers under banner headlines. Who knows tho....Never say never. So we'll see in a few days. At least they didn't make a real distant date people need to fret for long over.

Welllll, I guess we recollect differently on some of those verses.

IIRC, Jezebel's death was very specifically described ahead of time.

Ditto a number of other people.

A decimal measure on the Richter scale would be a small thing to God.

Hezekiah was told how many hours the sun would go back.

God is well able to be very specific, when He wants to be.

God is well able to be very specific, when He wants to be.

And the question is .... is this GOD being specific about October 4?

Or is it just pious people getting themselves worked up and THINKING that God told them something but He really didn't?

OR are they just doom porn freaks or making things up?

OR ... the 4th choice ... Evil spirits know future events so are these evil spirits pretending to be God telling people things for some nefarious reason?? It could be that there will be an earthquake and the people telling the prophecies really did get the prophecies, but that they came from evil spirits pretending to be God. Evil spirits can do that ... and in so doing people will put their faith in fake prophets instead of in God ...

That would be an interesting twist.

But I"m still thinking ... October 1 - autistic prophecy - nothing will happen AND October 4 - 'God prophecy' - nothing will happen. Time will tell ...
