Wow tqx for the info sir! So this spin contain lot of space rock and our gravity make it more to come?

1 has questioned this as well cheesy but its subjective w/o the technology to verify in the physical.

cheesy
This is why i am say odd..remember when gov shut down the space fence program and active independent astronomy for help? This is big question..WHY..

@ times it seems some programs are replaced with other programs even if not shared publically cheesy, 1 hopes there is a similar if not more advanced programs established that can mimic the space fence program if not do more then the space fence program could or would of.

Where are you at Cheesy ?

I am from indonesia sir..

I never see big fireball here..i am miss one..hehe

me neither
though i did dream of a Massive meteor shower last night
perhaps your part of the world will be getting a break this time around?

One of the more disturbing accounts has been compiled from these legends by Edith and Alexander Tollmann of the University of Vienna, who believe that a comet circling the sun fragmented into seven large bodies that crashed into the world's oceans 8,200 ± 200 years ago. This age is based on radiocarbon dates from Vietnam, Australia and Europe. The impacts generated an atmospheric fireball that globally affected society.

This was followed by a nuclear winter characterized by global cooling. More significantly, enormous tsunami swept across coastal plains and, if the legends are to be believed, overwashed the centre of continents. The latter phenomenon, if true, most likely was associated with the splash from the impacts rather than with conventional tsunami run-up. Massive floods then occurred across continents.

The event may well have an element of truth.

Figure 8.9 below, plots the location of the seven impact sites derived from geological evidence and legends. Two of these sites, in the Tasman and North Seas, have been identified as having mega-tsunami events around this time. The North Sea impact centre corresponds with the location of the Storegga slides described in Chapter 6.

Cheesy, I didn't realize you are in Indonesia! Aren't there a lot of volcanos there? If so, can you tell me the names? I'm really into volcanos

As for the meteors, there have just been SO MANY! I don't think I ever recall seeing this many reports in such a concentrated area...good job on the reporting BTW !

Text1. What is a fireball? What is the difference between a fireball and a bolide? A fireball is another term for a very bright meteor, generally brighter than magnitude -4, which is about the same magnitude of the planet Venus in the morning or evening sky. A bolide is a special type of fireball which explodes in a bright terminal flash at its end, often with visible fragmentation.

I was like, "what is a bolide?"

Alright Cheezy, I'm just gonna get this out there here in your thread.

What are the odds ? Come on this one's for you numbers people..
What are the odds of two completely different meteorites penetrating our
atmosphere and displaying it self to the same region of earth, same people ?
Two nights in a row ? What are the odds of this random chance happening ?

Then lets say for a moment, that it wasn't just a random chance shot in the dark
goings on ? Let's say it was actually a sign without knowing how or why or from
where or who. But let's just contemplate that for a moment ? Now what are the
odds of that possibility ? And compare them to the odds you get in your first query ?

See if anyone's up for the challenge ?

Meteorites? There was material recovered from both events? That's news to me.

But to actually calculate those odds you would have to first provide a size estimate for the objects. You would then need accurate figures for the global incidence of such events. Whatcha got?

But the odds probably are not as remote as you seem to think.

A lot less than a meteor two nights in a row.

I'm working the numbers now.

Do I need to say that's a lie ?
Weren't there some accounts of material ? No ? Then I stand corrected ?

Why do I have this nagging suspicion you know exactly where I was going with
this ? :=)
