Is nudity art or perversion?

How do you judge what it symbolizes without knowing the intent?

From the look of the video, I would say it means she has been thorn down to her most basic self. It is to idealize that she has no cover nor persona left of what she used to feel about herself.

But then it's marketing sex in the same breath - knowing that sex sells.

Is the art a cover for perversion? Is all nude art a cover for perversion?

Yes, but Cher is not dancing around with bears, projecting this hyper sexualized imagery of a young kid in a suit with pony tails on top of her head and a bear on her outfit.

You see, it's not SO much the lack of clothing or the way Miley was dancing. It was the imagery being projected. Obvious mind media programming.

Cher was getting attention, using her body and sexuality to do so on a ship full of men. Not acting like a 12 year old, with dancing bears, and gyrating against a man many years older than her.

But she's 18. As i said in another post, I won't allow my children (future children) to be watching trash like that. Can I control it? Yes I will, to the best of my ability. I don't care to judge what other parents do, only what I do. I'm not so stupid to believe I can wrap my child in cotton wool and keep them away from the things I don't want them to see, but I can have a huge impact on their life by just keeping it out for as long as I can and letting them be innocent children.

What can a child gain by seeing filth and trash like that on MTV? How does it contribute to a healthy view on sexuality, or their life in general?

I grew up with MTV. I grew up watching all the gangsta rap and the way women were objectified and treated on tv in front of my innocent eyes. It really messed up my world view, and how I should be as a young woman, and what men expected of me. I won't have that for my children.

Anyone ever met a child that has not been exposed to the crap on TV? I have, in my town, and it is a sight to behold. These children are intelligent, they are kind, and they are very different than other children you meet, where a parent lets them have free reign over the TV and internet. I'm a proponent of going old school, and keeping this crap out of innocent children's lives.

Everybody starts out as a kid, but that changes. She's not a kid anymore. Now I suppose I could be wrong with this, but I'm fairly certain that she is no longer making videos for The Disney Channel. She doesn't have to abide by Disney-esque types of restrictions.

People who have grown up with MTV and other such things have been programmed into thinking that this is normal.


No, Miley's performance is not normal. By any means. Childlike imagery mixed with sexual imagery is not right, nor it is normal.

Growing up from being an innocent child straight into taking ones clothing off in front of the world and dancing suggestively with bears is not a normal progression of life for a young girl into a woman.

As I said, I grew up to MTV. I did not have parents who monitored what I saw. I watched gangsta rap videos, women being sexually objectified and maltreated. My views on sexuality was not healthy, my mind was confused and I saw things the wrong way because I was basing my perspective off of things I saw around me. None of this is healthy or normal.

I see Miley Cyrus as a drugged out has been long before she's 30, maybe even 25. One thing that annoys me, is that she used children's TV as a springboard for her career. I find it disgusting that she's all "I'm a good girl with good morals" that suddenly turns into the disgusting POS she has now become. As a parent, my daughter isn't allowed to watch or listen to anything Miley Cyrus. And honestly, my daughter is totally fine with that.

That's a pretty dumb and short sighted response to Miley Cyrus and her career as being a role model for children to becoming the exact opposite. So what if she's grown up? Does turning 18 automatically make it OK to turn your back on the very viewers that made you famous to begin with? How about her showing a little responsibility, knowing damn well that she's been a role model to THOUSANDS of young children, and at least "ease into" the slut she just couldn't wait to become?

I'm not suggesting that she be a good role model (sigh) forever, but I just feel she owes the children that once looked up at her a little decency, a little respect. How would everyone feel if their favorite movie star started to act like this once their current show is up? I bet many of you would roll your eyes. And we're adults.

Being half naked and doing ridiculous things is now the way to get attention - apparently.
Its Art they claim. Rolling around laughing.

But let some people to have NO PART of such a culture. She hasn't won, she has however showed a huge mass of the public how sordid and sick the music industry gets in bid for attention. And they don't really care how mature a woman is.
In other words they will tell them what " image" they need to sell and they do just that!

There is no collaboration. You can tell Miley doesn't have that capability.
There is just a producer or image maker behind her giving her clues as to what is selling. I think numerous women like her are doing it in the charts. How original! That's art , right????!

Let some kids and teens have a right not to watch this nonsense however!

it's not about the attention she is getting, it's about the message, the childlike imagery being mixed with sexual imagery.... it's not normal, it's not okay. It's warped view. Very warped. And I know there are many people who agree with this, otherwise, a lot of people would not have been disgusted with it.

She isn't for example copying the other VERY successful competitors in the charts who wear next to nothing and have this short hairstyle and provocative videos.

She isn't trying to make it even more shocking to win more attention = $$$$.

I mean as an 18yr old she makes all the decisions on how her image comes across. She's an in charge female at that young age who knows EVERYTHING about sex in a mature way. Right??

You don't seem to get the fact that if you want to be on top you have to do something that gets the public and the media talking. She tried the Hannah Montana style and it didn't get her anywhere, now she does some shock and awe and guess what instant talk about her and what she is doing....that is what you call publicity whether it is good or not people are talking about her which is what all of this is about.

I'd like to add that in Norway, an adult dressed up as a child and suggesting adult themes (i.e. sex) is one definition of child pornography. So school girl porn is pretty much child porn as it's placing an IMAGE of a young girl (even if the actress is 50) in a sexual situation. So needless to say, by the law Miley Cyrus is producing child porn.

I know that's crazy to think about, as an American living in Norway I found that law quite absurd. But it shows you that people find such things disgusting, like an entire country. (You can find Norway's child porn laws via Google.)

Yep, I have already stated that the pop charts is polluted with very dodgy looking females.

Dodgy, ie looks like a stripper. But this image has long been a way to incite the lust of their teenage fans, and even adult fans. Maybe they see that look as being liberated.

Didn't madonnas book " Sex" sell out like crazy?

People love to see women dancing with teddies, animals, you name it - anything. They want to see it the more absurd it gets.

Why they like this? Me and many don't understand. But apparently its all very " cool".

Are you talking about the video for "We can't stop" or "Wrecking ball"?

I thought the nudity was in "wrecking ball" and it doesn't have childlike imagery - I don't think.

But then what really constitutes as childish? Suckers, Candy, rainbows, and teddy bears? Like Katy Perry's "California gurls" video?

Do adults not buy each other teddy bears and candy on valentines?

No these kids hump teddies sexually during their dance display there is a difference. When I say kids I mean the younger folk in the music industry.

As stated Madonna started with her book " sex". It seems to be the norm now.

Cher is also another one.

Well they infantile themselves, for example. They aren't that young that they still like " lollies" and so on. Its just all an act.

Its not even Miley Cyrus's fault. Again its the " image makers" faults. They want them to be as outrageous as they can.

What's interesting is many pop stars don't have even the experience of the image they are portraying .So its basically them " acting".

There are people behind them making these images.
