There is statical evidence that both racists and conservatives have a lower IQ on average. Both a disability to see the bigger picture. Society will always have its stupid elements.

And you showed your ignorance and stupidity with your remark. I'm conservative, and have a average or above average intelligence. My interests and fields of study range from astronomy to zoology, and can hold an intelligent conversation.
I'm surprised at you Purple with that remark. I've read a lot of your replies to various threads and they've never had any ignorance, except this last one.

The vast majority of Australians have british ancestry, until recently anyway. Now Australia is truly multicultural and IMO far better off for it. My teenage daughter has friends of all ethic varieties and sexual persuasions. These kids are far more accepting then my generation ever was or probably will be although I
am certainly trying harder to accept her differing views.
Sadly the world is full of ignorant bigoted people, which is part of the reason we have so many wars around
the world.
I think the day we can accept our fellow man regardless of any differences will be the day when we will have finally grown up as a species and if there are any ET'S out there may be the day they will accept us as their
brothers and let us explore the Universe with them.

I just want to add my own analysis to this, other than "She's hot" (though she is.)

Has there ever been a time when there hasn't been idiots/racists making stupid comments? Freedom of speech, in the US, certainly has provided an oppourtunity for people to show how idiotic they are.

What was the point of CNN (and perhaps other news outlets) airing this aspect?

She won. She's good looking, and probably talented and intelligent.

Let the woman enjoy her fame and crown.

Why create a story from some "morans" tweeting some hateful stuff? Is CNN racist for promoting the idiots tweets to national attention?

Even a small proportion of racists in the US will constitute a lot of people and unfortunately due to the ease of online communication (in their case), passionate views can be spread very quickly. Anti racists are inspired to respond to racism when it occurs, giving the impression that it is more wide spread than it is.

Good for Nina!

Now if we could only find a Miss America who's capable of using their public platform to educate kids on something other than eating disorders due to their own past histories. This continuous pattern should be giving the pageant a black eye by now.

For some reason I thought it was a Native American Indian - now that would be something wouldn't it.

These contests are pointless anyway, shes not bad looking but hardly stunning.
Most of these woman have an IQ of about 50, and other than their looks dont have much going for them.
I think these contests degrade woman and dont serve much of a purpose accept for a bit of eye candy for us blokes, which I am not against unless my missus is in the room, then I am very much against them.
Guess who wears the pants in my house?

You know i would point out the irony of a bunch of racist people
making blanket statements about another group of people, that
are just plain ignorant, but apparently America isn't the only
one who has this problem, as a non racist American i feel you
are being very racist in those statements you made, America
doesn't have a problem, those few who choose to criticize
others because their feelings being hurt really do though.

I am about tired of folks saying everything in the world needs
to be edited, everyone has a right to their own opinion even
if you dont like it.

Yes there are racist Americans, but there are also racist
Indians, i know a few myself, racist African Americans,
racist anythings, you name a group of people and there
are a subset that hate for no good reason. Giving in to
their hate is the same as giving in to terrorism, what you
do is not change the world for those people, maintain
decency and ignore them until their opinion is not even
invalid but seen as contemptible and idiotic.

Ignorance is as ignorance does, you would think they would be happy to have such as beautiful lady as Miss America. But then again ignorance knows no bounds. As one Tweeter was complaining and asking when an "American" woman was going to win the paginate, my question is; Is that North, Central or South American or just someone from the USA? I thought everyone born on the American Continent was an American. So if the paginate is for "Miss America" shouldn't it be open to all Americans? Since it is not open to all Americans, it needs to be renamed to "Miss USA" and cut out the racist BS.

Participate in WHAT precisely? You responded to a post which contained a photograph, and the words "Seconded by the way". I am not sure what you were responding to, so if you would not mind clarifying that for me I would really appreciate it.

Racists are zealots

You will never change the mind of a zealot

Allow them their opinion

As they voice it they prove their own stupidity.

Really? Do you want to cite that "evidence" you have there? Or do you want to continue to spew your ignorance and hate a little more? Or are you representing that "society" you are speaking about?

I am neither a conservative nor a racist. Nor am I spewing hatred or ignorance. Instead of getting me to cite information why dont you do some research yourself...

udies going back over 50 years have repeatedly arrived at the same conclusion -- racists have lower IQs than non-racists. The average intelligence quotient (IQ) of all members of the human race is 100 on the Stanford-Binet scale, as illustrated in the bell curves in the figure below.

University Study Shows People With Lower IQ's Are Political Conservatives

Why does this information bother you so much. Some people have higher IQs than others and within that one can see statistical trends. May I ask are you are conservative..

CNN pushed this nonsense because THAT is exactly what they are there to do...create more fractures and HATE within this smoking powder keg that we call multicultural society. If the shoe was on the other foot and this "Miss America" was Caucasian, this would be a non-story.

I think racial division is just too effective of a tool for the masters to let go. Even during the riots and MLKs campaign, (our country at its worse), we lived together with neighbors of several different races and backgrounds. I lived in a small country town that was too poor to afford racist practices. We lived, worked, played, worshiped and ate From the same trough.

Don't let outside dirt poison your water. Screen out the junk; build, nurture and protect your community.

The media is rarely going to show you the good and right things in our world; that is way too boring and "normal". Normal doesn't sell. Normal is in your home and next door. People don't pay for normal. We are drawn to the abnormal, the strange, the daring, the titillating.

Watch the perversion if you so desire, but keep your estate safe.

Know the enemy; just don't let him in.

Good points.

Heres my thoughts.

When the "Waar on terror" started, elements of the then US Government of the time and a whole load of nasty spiteful bigoted people disgusing themselves as "patriots" amongst other things did an awfully good job of stigmatising anyone with dark skin who looked like they might have come from the middle-east/Asian sub continent as a potential enemy who might be a "muslim terrorist" who "hated our freedoms".

The upshot of that is that certain forms of casual racism almost became commonplace - indeed in some aspects its still there and a generation has been exposed to such nonsensical thinking and - from time to time and this is a case in point - it crops up.

Both Bush and Obama were/have been at pains to point out that the WOT wasn't to do with race or ethnicity, but sadly somewhere along the lines things have gotten confuzzled (my word) and there appears to be a section of US society that has been left wallowing in ignorance, believing that people from countries that they can't even identify on a map are the enemy and/or that people who may even look like they're from a country they can't even identify on a map aren't fit to live/work in the USA or even (as in this case) be a US Citizen.

And the rest of the world looks on and wonders how the USA puts itself forward as a world leader while such backwards minded people as those displayed in the article elect Presidents capable of unleashing the worlds largest war machine when they - apparently - don't know "it" from shinola.

Thats the image problem I'm talking about, and thats probably why (although I can't say for sure) that CNN ran with this - the people making such comments are stupid and ignorant and - whether anyone likes it or not - will be held up as examples of "Murica!", which dumbs down what might be perceived as the global US brand.

Its a tricky skillset to balance, being the self-styled leaders of the free world. We (and I include Britain in the argument) have to strive to be better if thats how we're going to promote ourselves.

Except for two glaring discrepancies:

A) It's not limited to just the Bible Belt and...
B) It's not just limited to America

But other than that I'm right there with ya.
Sure, it's just "soft porn" for the "sophisticates"...a simple meat display like the best pig at the county fair but at least at the fair, you never hear one pig claiming that the other pig cheated.

(That and they have corn dogs!)

I haven't watched one of those "competitions" since I was 12 (and discovered better porn in magazines) but if they'd consider adding "pole dancing", I might reconsider.
Okay, that last remark was uncalled for but seriously now, I hope she was better than THESE rocket scientists:

The winner should probably be based on how well she represents the average American woman

there is no 'average' American woman.

Hello the information presented was based on scientific evidence. I was not suggesting that all conservatives and racists have a lower on average IQ. Just a tendency towards it.

I posted some links on a post above it..

Soon someone is going to start a compeition where realy beauty and class is chosen, not trends in politics.

That is what I was talking about 'participating' in. As in, you would not be judged by swimsuits- it's clearly be more brains/etc/wtv.
