Bill is an atheistic, socialist jack azz. But even sometimes truth can come from the enemy.

Is your comment supposed to hurt our feelings? I could give a flying hoot what anyone thinks of America.

The topic of the thread is the common international image and reputation of the US- if you do not care about this, why do you go into a thread on it and take part?

I don't have any interest in religious conspiracies... maybe I should go over into their threads and post just to let them know that?

The comment was simply a confirmation that , yes, this is a common reputation and image existing in other parts of the world... do you suggest that we pretend it isn't, avoid actually acknowledging it, in order to avoid hurting feelings?

I think it would be prudent to point your fingers at our government and not at the American people.

It's not like we're German citizens here, blindly following a brutal dictator and willingly snuffing out millions of lives of our fellow men.

American citizens have had a strong record of anti-war sentiments for a very long time.

Conversely, we are sick and tired of having to deal with the Middle East----wars and protests and brutal killings and the mistreatment of women and children.

If you have to have a country to hate, there are certainly other candidates, are their not?

Have you ever taken a look at China's human rights record? The brutal killings by dictators in Africa?

Perhaps your hatred would be better placed in one of those countries. They certainly need the world's attention much more than we do.

I thought I'd made it clear that I have been referring to the US administrations, not the general public.
But to be honest, after some of the posts on here, I'm beginning to wonder.
Yes, there are other countries that are diabolical, but this thread is about the US, and that's where my comments are aimed. It would be rude to derail someone else' thread by deflection.

While I think he makes some worthy points on this issue that you have selected wisely . . .

on the whole . . .

I think it would be more patriotic if Bill kept his mouth forever shut . . . except maybe for eating. LOL.

W are not the world police.

We are the world's "George Zimmerman".

Regardless of what we do, someone , somewhere won't like it.

What I wrote 2 days ago.

That little bitch Maher stole my line!

Thats the only part of what he said that I really had an issue with - the media is working hard on racial division, this plays to that end.

The other interesting thing i am watching is the rise of Putin's power - he posted an op-ed into the WSJ, headline NWO rag - interesting. The controllers didnt mind it - worth thinking about the reasoning.

Otherwise, everything Mahar said is on point, about a decade behind the edge - riding the popularity wave I guess. Saying unpopular things probably isnt on the script for guys like this.

I'd say you're wrong on this. He's been saying unpopular truths for a long time...which cost him his last show. He may have donated a cool million to Obama, but he has also been free in criticising him as well. I consider that putting his money where his mouth is. I don't agree with everything he says and he may be acerbic at times, yet he is not afraid to load his panel with Republicans (and others who disagree with him), too. I don't see much of that from the Right. Even at that, he eschews the tag 'Left' and regards himself as Libertarian. Hey...he holds up a mirror, and a lot of folks don't like what they see. They have the choice to tune-out.

From time to time he does get things right and this he nailed. America has no business telling other countries what to do or who can rule them.

Ah but your wrong my friend. The world wants and gets our help, that help does not come for free. You can't have it both ways. We are the world's police for a reason, and it is no altruistic at all. It is for power.

Yes we have every right to tell them what to do. It may not be right but it is the way of the world. All the countries with power do it.

People like you is the problem with this country. It because of people who think that the freedoms we gave our citizens which led to our nation becoming so powerful gives us a right to rule the world. You couldn't be more wrong. Unless our nation is attacked we have no right to attack anyone and certainly no right telling anyone how to run their country when ours is in the shape it's in.

Glenn beck is a libertarian too. You are way off the mark calling ( D's) closer to libertarian.

You obviously need to go back to school and relearn the definition of libertarianism. It's not what you seem the think it is. Beck is not that.

I disagree to some extent. There are a lot of tin-pot dictators and regimes out there who are not shy about slaughtering their dissidents/minorities, and I think it behooves us (collectively) to protect innocents from genocide. Of course the waters are muddied when it is the West who fuels conflict for its own sake.

Canada once (pre-Steve) had a proud tradition of peacekeeping. If we had a functioning Security Council in the UN, perhaps the Assads could be dealt with efficiently...but whenever you look at a fight, you have to dig pretty deep to truly find cui bono. That's where the problem lies.

Of course the problem is that our candidates are selected for us by the establishment. We get two Presidential candidates to choose from, but both of them would have bombed Libya or Syria. Both of them would have allowed the NSA to destroy the 4th Amendment. Any politician who acts outside the predetermined course of the unelected financial and political institutions will be marginalized and TPTB will funnel money into people to challenge them.

I won't say that we are innocent victims. But we are up against an oligarchy that really wants to get its way. And spends 365 days and billions of dollars a year to ensure it gets its way.

That's what 90% of this board is about. Those people who control the US and most of the world. Those are the people who are using us as the policemen of the world, while convincing us it's what we want.

Beck claims to be a libertarian.
Obama claims to be American.
Michelle claims to be a woman.
I know what all those things are, that don't make them what they claim to be.
I don't recall defining a libertarian by the way.

Maybe Bill is an ATS poster/lurker and a Beezer fan............

After 911 I was all rah rah war and let's kick some ass, I realize now I was a combination of brainwashed and ignorant. It's nice to see so many more people waking up.

I feel sorry for those still in the ignorant/brainwashed state, obviously there are still a few on here.

I'm sure he has his joke writers search the Internet for things to steal from smart people like "most" of us on here. I usually check to see what guests he has on before watching. Sometimes he has some good ones, but most just kiss his ass and its usually all Dems and 1 Republican who they all gang up on.

And I felt them same way as you after 9/11 I was also 19 at the time!!!

ATS has had a history of other writers/posters plagiarizing us.

Sadly, it's quite common here.

As a non-American, I can confirm that everyone I have ever spoken to about the US pretty much agrees with everything he has said.

How many of these people know actual Americans and have been to America? It's not like it is on t.v.

Oh jeese if the U.S. governments actions didn't make me wanna crawl under a rock in shame before, you had to mention t.v.; thinking that other countries are percieving U.S. citizens like the morons on "reality t.v."... there is not a hole deep enough to crawl into out of embarassment.

Citizens of other countries... please note: American politics/politicians and reality TV do not represent (?most?) U.S. citizens in anyway shape or form. Both are controlled by global corporations, the citizens of the U.S. have no say over either... I appologize and hang my head in shame. George Orwell has become a prophet, and it seems Mike Judge is becoming one too with the dumbing down of America... we are headed into making Idoicracy into a reality.
