I think it is worth taking a look at the policies already underway and what precedents they set for the future.

Is National Food Insurance The Next Big Idea?

imagine what our groceries stores would look like if they were run like the medical system

Some examples include:

• As you enter the store, note that there will be no prices posted.

• In addition, the price you pay will vary according to who you are and how you will pay.

• You’ll have to come in during office hours because the store will close on weekends and holidays.

• What you want probably won’t be on the shelf. You will be told to come back later.

• If you do find what you want, you will have to wait to pay, perhaps a long time, and you may not be able to charge it then, since getting the price right and your credit checked may take days or weeks.

• Don’t expect to be able to return anything, no matter how defective the product is.

Sounds like something that Obama would be fine with implementing.

We wouldn't dare read the Bill before they passed it into law though.

For his analogy to work, you have to pretend that our current health care system is like shopping in a grocery store.

I could make the same witty comparison with the current health care system and instead of "Obamachow" I could call it "predatory-capitalism-using-your-body-as-a-commodity-chow". But that would be stupid. But since Lew Rockwell did it, here goes:

- As you enter the store, note that prices will be posted but you won't be able to afford them unless your employer offers a way for you to pay or unless you enter the store with 200 other people but you all have to share a shopping list.

- In addition, the price you pay will vary according to who you are and how you will pay. And if you're lucky, you'll be able to walk out without going into debt.

- You’ll have to come in during office hours because the store will close on weekends and holidays. You could always go into the emergency room shopping but that, for no reason at all, costs exponentially more.

- What you want probably won’t be on the shelf. You will be told to come back later. Or be put on a waiting list where people who have more money will always get it before you.

- If you do find what you want, you will have to wait to pay, perhaps a long time, unless you are rich.

etc, etc...

My body is not a commodity. Robot tools like Rockwell knows better but he'd rather we all live in some Thunderdome Somalia.

According to Pelosi (now a hawk?), passing it would be the only way to find out what's in it.
