Revelation 17:8
Refered to seven kings, five has gone one is and not (not died) and when the seventh come he'll last a short time and then the eighth arrives he'll be one of the seven (short version).

If you consider about the resignation of the last pope, Could he'll be the eighth king?

Stay alert to Francis

BDW "Francisco I" He take this name not about Francisco de Asis but "Francisco Javier" one of the Jesuist founders.

yes possible ,Blas

..i think the Francis name points to the etymology of it, denoting the Franks
as you know, Charlemagne was a Frank - and from the bloodline of the Giants

- the 8th king is Osiris

Review the history of the 20th century.
Russia and China will not attack.
They are pre-occupied with their newly created semi-capitalistic respective economies.
Both require the resources in the Middle East.
I rest my case.

Well it is 9-13-13 at 0827 here in good ol Alaska.

World is still spinning, it's still raining.

It's 9-14-13 at 0127 in Tokyo, they have seemed to escape unscathed thus far. Well, beyond their current issues at least.

Nothing "major" in the news, nothing that I can find has changed, though possibly the renewed claims from Syrian rebels claiming another round of chemical weapons were used on them - maybe that will trigger something?

In the meantime I guess it's good I still showed up to work.

My favorite posts on ATS are the doomsday ones. I simply love it when Bible passages are invoked, or they claim they've received messages from God or other mystical beings, or even just had a bad dream. They defend almost unto death that their doomsday prophecy is true...and yet it never is. Do we get an apology? Nope.

Sooooo, looking at the Doomsday Calendar, it appears that October 1 is the next doomsday. Looking forward to it.

Looking only as far back as the 1900's will not give you an accurate sense of how and why wars are waged. America's Civil War was decades before then, so it could never happen again, right?

An all-too-common flaw in modern critical thinking though, so don't feel too bad.

The (carefully regulated) economic growth in Russia and China, in conjunction with similar decline in the US, is precisely what empowers and emboldens those governments to use such an opportunity to strengthen their own positions...and potentially over-reach.

To the last part about Russia and China needing the resources of the MidEast...
I assume you mean fossil fuels. Russia leads the world in oil production, behind only Saudi Arabia. China is in the top 10, and any shortages could be covered by Russia. Besides, if WW3 were to break out, middle-eastern oil reserves would be up for grabs to anyone willing to take them.

I may be wasting my time on this thread, too.

Any time there is potential for a significant global event, people jump to the apocalypse predictions. Terrible things can and do happen that set back humanity by generations, but the world has yet to end.

Never said anything about the end, I'm actually looking for a fresh beginning, a reset, Lord knows we could use one.

I'm sorry if you feel like you are wasting your time here. I'm no prophet, never claimed to be.

For all those posters who keep coming on here claiming this is a doomsday thread, it's not. Just remember it's always darkest before the dawn.

Just remember it's always darkest before the dawn

How classically ambiguous.

So what time is it at the moment (to extend your analogy) ?

and is that GMT or BST, and which hemisphere are we talking here ?

Try rereading my op, that should clear up any confusion you have.

What if we are in the end times? We can all feel that we are on the precipice of something big, and the high strangeness of the last couple of weeks in politics has only strengthened that feeling. A lot of people are confused as to why this attack on Syria is such a priority. It seems like the president and many other high level politicians are willing to throw away all the political capitol they have spent decades cultivating, for something that is hugely unpopular on both sides of the political line. Why is that, and why now?

Why NOT now? You chose a single event that is popular in the mas media and made that the focal point of your prediction?

What about some months back and the Boston bombing? Or a few years back and Iraq? Or Afghanistan? Or Iraq again? Or 7/7 ? Or 9/11? Or Korea? Or WW2? Or WW1?

Why are you singling out this one, very transient event and deciding THAT is some indication of something "big"? This sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME. Syria, is nothing new. It's not an indication of something big - it's just yet another sad story that plagues an immature, uncivilised portion of the world - hell, ALL of us in the world for that matter.

Just because Syria is the current flavour of the month is no indication of something around the corner. You only feel that way because it sits on your mind, I assume, and you're trying to make sense of it.

But nothing "big" is coming. Syria, Israel, Iran or any of those draconian societies and their medieval methods of human governance are not an indication of something "Big". They've always been like that and they most likely will be for a long time to come.

Well unlike other event and places, Damascus is mentioned in prophecy. So making a connection isn't beyond reason if you're inclined to believe some stronger forces are at work.

I know, for myself, when I saw John Kerry and Obama beating war drums, something wasn't right. These men are puppets. That is clear as day. That makes all presidents puppets of some master or masters. The POTUS is "the owner's representative" on the board of trustees. That too is clear as day. Elections are theater. Corrupting the system was a walk in the park for the real powers in the world. One man can veto what the representatives of the multitudes voted for on their behalf.

I think we more or less agree about the situation. I was referring to the fact that these threads tend to devolve into doomsday prediction/debunking.
When things are looking grim, many people avoid discussing the realities and instead view the situation as a singular event unlike anything ever faced by man. Then you have another group of people who are ignorant of the details, and yet vehemently assert that nothing will come of any of it.

What details are you referring to? Do you believe all posts must be fully read and all details understood before you disagree with the premise of the OP?

If someone tells you it's raining, you look out and notice a distinct yellow tinge with a pungent aroma, can you decide for yourself this is not in fact, rain, but something more mundane and earthbound that is emanating from above you, but necessarily from the clouds? You see how some facts in this story of rain are somewhat true, but when taken in context, one can form a completely alternative conclusion?

Your comments would make more sense in this thread if geopolitics was as simple as making an empirical observation with your own eyes.

To answer your question, yes. At the very least, read the thread if you want to contribute a meaningful comment. It seems that it would be asking too much of you to suggest reading about the topic elsewhere.

I am of the mind that one of the biggest problems in western society today is that every moron who can read thinks that his opinion is just as valid as that of anyone else.
