Senators Authorizing Syria Strike Got More Defense Cash Than Lawmakers Voting No.

Senators voting Wednesday to authorize a Syria strike received, on average, 83 percent more campaign financing from defense contractors than lawmakers voting against war.

Overall, political action committees and employees from defense and intelligence firms such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, United Technologies, Honeywell International, and others ponied up $1,006,887 to the 17 members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee who voted yes or no on the authorization Wednesday, according to an analysis by Maplight, the Berkeley-based nonprofit that performed the inquiry at WIRED’s request.

Dont you just love freedom!? Yah, the freedom to get screwed unless youre in government or are super wealthy.

No conflict of interest here people.

If you or I were to accept bribes, we would be imprisoned. But it would seem that laws dont apply to "law makers", just us, the peasant class.

Step 1. Bribes will now be called "campaign contributions".
Step 2. Profit.

'Murika!

Lets call lobbying what it is, and its not Free speech.

Its bribes that get our voices ignored, its the exact opposite of free speech for the citizens of this country, a way for corporations to Blind our Reps to our voices.

This isn't Democracy, its Plutocracy.

Make lobbying illegal, soon as this happens the people will have power, not corporations.

They never call an illegal act what it is.

Lobbying

Political Action Committee

Campaign Contribution

Bribes, kickbacks and payoffs is what they are.

They used to arrest people for that. Remember the suitcases of cash filmed by under covers that caught representatives taking bribes? Now its legal tender.

The lawmakers wrote the laws that make it so.
