U.S. intercepts Iranian order for attack on U.S. interests in Iraq

The United States has intercepted an order from an Iranian official instructing militants in Iraq to attack U.S. interests in Baghdad in the event the Obama administration launches a military strike in Syria, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

The American embassy in Baghdad was a likely target, according to unnamed U.S. officials quoted by the newspaper. The Journal said the officials did not describe the range of potential targets indicated by the intelligence.

This just ups the game IMO.

We all knew Iran had a stake in the game, and this kind of news just adds fuel to an already sticky situation.

Considering that China has reportedly sent ship(s) to the region.

IMO, this might just be false info, but on the other hand...

I'd like opinions from members on how they feel about this development?

Did anyone think the Embassy in Baghdad wasn't going to be hit and hit hard? It sounds like our people are hiding in it and the Reuters story says violence is like is hasn't been since 2008. So much for anything but complete, total and unmitigated failure.

I'm glad the Embassy there is a self contained city within a city. It needs to be for an island within that metro area. I'd feel a bit like Custer, right about now, to be honest.

See, this gets way more complicated than John Kerry seems to think it is going to be. Both Iran and Syria themselves have decent military power, more than we are used to fighting against.

I've been saying for a while that it is a terrible idea to go to war against Syria thinking that it is going to be as easy as in Afghanistan, where insurgents are basically using improvised weapons.

this, being an 'intercept' with no warning, evacuation or travel advisory other than 'essential' travel ... just doesn't cut it for me, sorry.

The Chinese ships in the area are an LPD equivalent, similar to the San Antonio class ship used in the US. It's not going to make a difference, and is there to observe and grab whatever ELINT/SIGINT information they can grab. Situations like this are an intel specialists wet dream.

I'm sure they want Iran to get in on it... news like this is the start of talk and that eventually turns into a good excuse to start rationalizing a larger campaign to the public...(like US citizens have a say in that at all, I mean why bother even rationalizing actions, you're gonna do anyway gov't?) Israel has been wanting at Iran like a rabid dog for a number of years now, they were trying to get the US do it for them before the elections if anyone recalls, Obama kept snubbing Natty for his re-election "votes"... so what does Obama have to lose now? So, if they serve Baghdad you know then it's on, Iran has been finger as the culprit for Iraq insurgency since Bush was in office. I am sure if given the green light Natty'd be all over it; as the US military sits out in the gulf playing "Far Wars: Attack of the Drones" funded by the other Middle Eastern countries.

Don't forget, Damascus and Baghdad sit right on top of the 33rd parallel; which is notoriously bloody ground.

Whatever happened to diplomacy? Even on the game show family feud, they are obliged to shake hands before swatting at the big red shiny buttons.

Like I said on the other thread ... I think this is probably true. Iran is just itching to hit us. And considering that their last 'president' was literally praying for the world to be full of chaos and war so that their imaginary 12th Imam could come riding in, with Jesus as a sidekick, to make the entire world Muslim. ... This news is getting worrying. I'd take info like that with a pinch of salt. John Kerry makes a good liar but that's about it.

And with FEMA conducting Terror and Nuke drills all over the US Eastern Seaboard then the news regarding what Senator Lindsay Graham said to CBS news regarding a possible Terrorist Nuke attack on South Carolina get's even more worrying. Added to that old Nuclear Warheads have been shipped to South Carolina from a West Texas Nuclear Base with no mandate and or paperwork. They were shipped by trucks! This was a Black Op operation. Will there be a Nuclear False Flag attack to turn the US population around thus advocating the attack on Syria that Obama and his cronies so desperately want?

Just because a Senator believes Alex Jones' story doesn't make it any more true. An anonymous source should always be taken with a huge grain of salt, and in this case, a massive grain of salt.

I can say with almost certainty that if it's on infowars, it's probably not true. Alex Jones has a way of spinning a good yarn and sucking paranoid people in. When I first discovered him I was intrigued, not so much anymore.

I say let Russia deal with their ally, and if they don't step up to the plate and b-smack Syria, we should impose sanctions on them.

No no no no. You didn't get what I said. The Senator spoke to CBS news regarding a possible Nuke attack. But he never mentioned Alex Jones. It was AJ that brought his story and the Senators story together.

Alex Jones "broke" the story from an anonymous source that they were supposedly moving nuclear weapons from Dyess (which doesn't have them anymore since the B-1 is out of the nuclear mission), before Lindsey Graham said anything. It's all BS anyway. Why would they hit South Carolina and not Washington, or New York, or somewhere a lot more high profile?

In all seriousness, perhaps they were moved to make using them along the eastern seaboard easier. I still find it hard to believe they could be moved without signatures or paperwork. Even under orders, I would think ranking officers would have a problem being involved in something like that.

The problem is that the bombers at Dyess are B-1s. The B-1 has been removed from the nuclear mission for many years, and without modification again, can't carry them. So there is no reason for Dyess to have nuclear weapons stored there to begin with. They would have been moved out a long time ago to either Minot, Whiteman, or Barksdale.

Do nuclear weapons have to be delivered via a bomber? Can't they detonate one pretty much just sitting around?

Edit: What I mean is, who said that these nukes were going to be used "conventionally"?

They're not, but they are supposedly being moved from Dyess AFB. That's the point I'm making. Dyess moved their nukes out a long time ago because they are out of the nuclear mission. They don't have nukes, so how are they being moved from Dyess to the east coast?

I check his show out every once in a while and remember when I first heard him 10 years ago when he was talking about the NSA listening to everybody and that one day Drones would be everywhere....... he's been on point with very many things. Specifically he gets various experts in different fields of expertise (economy, ex-Military, Gun Manufacturers, Ron Paul) etc, to speak their opinions and a lot of stuff has been spot on.

I still think Boston Bombing was Manchurian false flag or some sort of twist like that

Yeah your right. Alex Jones and David Icke have been right about a number of things. You can choose to disbelieve them but some of their info has been frighteningly spot on. And I agree with you on the Boston Bombing. I answered a thread with some questions. The thread was moved into another subject basically saying the Boston Bombing was true. I disagree hence my questions with pictures.
