With the current state of the Russian military (the real state, not the fanboy state), the last thing Russia wants for the next few years at least, is any kind of major war.

Agreed and not to mention that Russia and its mouthpiece Putin has never been the "Belle of the Ball" as they have been with Edward Snowdan and now Syria. The timing could not have been more perfect for Putin as he is hosting the G20.

IMO that is already unintended consequences as I see the US becoming increasingly isolated and Putin all the sudden is David standing up against Goliath.

I also think that Russia has much to lose here so I believe that Russia is doing more than just posturing. And although I am not naive to think Russia is our savior I do hope it's enough to stall any action until cooler heads prevail.

And that is exactly why Russia is sending their forces to the region. Look at how many countries have been talking up Russia, and seeming to want to increase ties with them over this. This has been a windfall for Russia.

Putin has said in no uncertain terms that he supports Assad, and definitely not the rebel forces. He has been consistent on that, and has good reason to from his Russian point of view. There are also the economic reasons, and that would include China. It is not WW3, but neither is it good scenario for all these regional conflicts steeped in militarism and in areas where religion or religious sects plays a part. It's just worse for those who are religious and mean no harm to others because they are the ones most likely to perish.

In the words of this Administration and the last Sec. State, "What difference does it make now." I mean these people are already dead. Children and all, gassed and done. We can't bring them back so what is done is done right? That is the current standard..

When Americans are under attack and Obama says stand down and we are killed its no big deal? When its Syrians being gassed, all of a sudden we need to "go in?"

Me thinks the criminals are covering for F&F, IRS, and the many other criminal enterprises they have going and the RINO's are letting him do it...

Oh well, on to football tomorrow and Sunday..

We bomb Syria and the nightmare starts, Russia, China, syrian Iran and who hey Turkey followed by Iranian terrorist and Al Qaedia friends definitly death trap for ground troops.

It's laughable that he wants to bomb them, with all the countries involved in this country and who hey don't forget about the Islamic brotherhood, it would all collapse on America.

If enough comes to congress they could say yes to bombing and bringing ground troops in.

Very misleading article. Note how the author at infowars doesn't make any reference as to where these vessels are from or the make up or identity of the other vessels? All this info is easy to find on the web, but they would rather go for the sensationalist headline in order to get the most web hits and circulation.

The Jinggangshan is part of the international anti-piracy task force deployed off Somalia and used to escort vessels in the Gulf of Aden/Red Sea. The Chinese have been deploying vessels on anti-piracy missions since 2008.

The 15th convoy fleet comprises three ships -- amphibious docking vessel Jinggangshan and missile frigate Hengshui from the navy's Nanhai Fleet, and supply ship Taihu from the Beihai Fleet -- carrying three helicopters and 800 troops.

The Task Force that has been relieved and on their way home.

Debka go even further with claims of a secret deployment of Chinese warships off Syria. Seriously?

According to DEBKAfile, Beijing has already deployed a number of warships opposite Syria in secret. If the latest report is confirmed, this will be the largest Chinese deployment in the Middle East in its naval history

www.debka.com...

In answer no there isn't any secret deployment of Chinese warships off Syria, but it makes a good story that even Sorcha Faal would be proud of.

And you're surprised? With the other things that Debka has put out there, you're surprised that they'd say this?

I know, but why do people buy into this BS every time? They actually think that the Chinese and Russian naval assets are going to intervene if the US or a Coalition attack Syria? If strikes go ahead there are going to be a lot of people puzzled by the lack of direct action by any of these Russian or Chinese vessels. Are they really expecting Russian and Chinese assets to directly engage US/Coalition striking assets?

For the same reason that they believe that they're secretly moving nuclear weapons from Dyess AFB Texas, to South Carolina, and that a base operator would have been brought into the loop, and confirm it. People that don't know better, hear people that they assume are experts, and think that they're right, and buy into it.

As per usual the conspiracy websites get it wrong yet again.

The Chinese vessel mentioned was the Jinggangshan. Simply because it was noted in the Red Sea it was assumed that it was heading for the Mediterranean. The Jinggangshan is still part of the anti-piracy mission and was noted in the Gulf of Aden on the 11th September. See following images at link.

Yes, I think it is well established now that the original reports were in error and that the Chinese aren't involved in the area.
I doubt that they really want to be involved there militarily.
