New Iranian submarines set for international waters

ohh bouy,,

" Published on Nov 28, 2012

The new versions of Ghadir Class submariens are so powerful that the commander of Iran's Navy says they will soon join the country's warships in the Mediterranean Sea.

They are modern, reliable and deadly. That's why they have become the star of the Iranian Navy in recent years. Iran doesn't buy these powerful vessels. It builds them from scratch.

Press TV's Ghanbar Naderi reports from Tehran."

yaa, cant see these guys bumping into anything.were screwed.

is this about Syria or is it about usa on the verge of breaking international laws?
Russia and china are the good guys if they are standing up to an illegal aggressor.
the sad thing is 90% respect international laws.
I say regime change in usa ,uk is needed to get rid of the terrorists

You know...I don't want to see any of our men and women in the military get hurt or killed (well, I don't want to see any human being get hurt or killed for that matter) - but perhaps the US needs a good smack down so maybe our "leaders" can get put in their place. Why don't they understand that we the people don't want another damned war! And while they're at it - why don't they pull our troops out of the countries that they were not in favor of invading when Bush was in power?

For crying out loud - most of us citizens were against all of these wars from the outset. Aren't our "leaders" supposed to be obeying the will of the people? Let another country take the world police job from us and lets focus on liberating our own country from despotic leaders.

I agree...is does seem suspicious

Almost like someone is about to get jumped - it's like the extra guys that come around the corner ahead of you while you're trying to make your exit

Haha, lets hope it doesn't get that far, but I am glad to see I am not the only one who thinks China's new involvement as curious..

Okay, I have seen you make this unbacked claim all over these boards now. While I wish I could believe you, I'm nervous to a point where I called my local representatives for the first time ever. I only have a limited understanding of world history and a quarter century of experience, so maybe my fears are elementary but can you or anyone please explain how based on tensions of past that nothing will come of this? I see people twice as old as me say they've never seen anything so serious, but maybe it's just because they're sensationalists venting on ATS. Please give me some peace of mind, but only if it's realistic. I prefer the truth.

I really really do hope Obama backs down, and the only way that MIGHT happen if congress votes no.

Well, I am pretty sure Obama is now praying for a NO, that way he will be able to say "I wanted to attack, but the congress said no, so not my fault"

Well...like I said I don't want anyone to get hurt, but maybe if some of them were scared into crapping their own pants...

I just hate it that, due to both the Republican party and the Democrat party being filled with warmongers, America has become the very terrorists that we claim to be hunting.

Well this thing is not made for combat that is for sure. I doubt the Chinese would send it the Med unless it was to evacuate foriegn nationals if the conflict expanded.

It's similar to the USS San Antonio that's already in the region. It's not really a warship in the sense that it doesn't fight other ships like a cruiser or destroyer. China is actually smart to send it. They can sit there out of the fight all day, recording signals, gathering intelligence on communications, radar systems, and all sorts of things. This is an intel specialists wet dream.

I agree that their mini-sub is kinda funny when one first looks at it. We're used to the Goliath types of the Ohio and Typhoon class boats as submarines of war. At least a Los Angeles or Akula, right? Theirs is such a... Well... Toy looking thing.

Then, I'd stop and think again about the fact Iran has no need, desire or intention to be a blue water Navy. Their whole focus in life has been about defense overall, and control of one spot on the surface of the Earth. A very small spot and a shallow one, as it happens.

A unique place, requiring a unique kind of boat to operate there, if that is it's exclusive domain. They were actually quite intelligent about the design, given their overall intentions for battle in the Strait, if it ever came to that, IMO. They'll lose a bunch of them, but then, that literally IS the point....so it's brilliant, actually. I've never underestimated the Iranians/Persians. Historically, those who have? Generally have fallen hard because of it. Syria and Iran being inextricable, like peas in a pod here to all sides.

Don't forget Pakistan, just there to keep an eye on India...

Here is a headline for ya.
Are India and Pakistan headed for war?

The situation is scary, experts say. Kashmir — a divided territory that both India and Pakistan claim as their own — was the cause of two of the three wars the two countries have fought since they attained independence from Britain in 1947. Now both New Delhi and Islamabad control numerous nukes; Pakistan has the world’s fastest growing arsenal.

It wasn't an LDP? The San Antonio class's marine compliment is about 250?

To say that ASW in the Gulf is difficult would be one of the biggest understatements ever. Active sonar is next to useless at those depths, and passive sonar works just a little better with all the crap in the water. Throw in a diesel electric submarine, and dear god it gives me nightmares just thinking about it.

As far as I know they have 3 Kilo Class submarines as well.

Makes you wonder where they currently are.
