The Syrian government has written to US Congress, urging members not to support the use of military force after a chemical attack.

The letter, seen by Sky News, urges Congress "not to rush into any irresponsible reckless action".

"We write to you as fathers and mothers, as members of families and communities which really are not so different to yours," it says.

"Moreover, we write to you as human beings asking: if you bomb us, shall we not bleed? Innocent people will be harmed."

The letter, which references quotes from former president Franklin D. Roosevelt, continues: "We realise that war would be a bloody, destructive, catastrophic track, which does not have any benefit for all nations".

A couple of other statements from Syrians saying 'no' to US strike in Syria ..

ATS Thread - Statement From Gregorios III, Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church (Syria)

ATS Thread - Open Letter from the Trappist Nuns in Syria

The Syrians do not want the US to 'save them' via air strike.

Everyone bleeds red and everyone feels the pain the same way.
Lets see how much humanity is left in the congress..

It is doubtful that Obama, Kerry, McCain, Hillary Clinton and the other war mongers have souls.

They may have sold their souls

These reckless maniacs who are so anxious to kill people--for a likely lie--must be stopped.

Their feverish war mongers may indicate that hey know something we all don’t know.

The letter, seen by Sky News, urges Congress to "communicate with us through civilised dialogue rather than the language of fire and blood".

Seriously? When did Assad ever listen to "civilized dialogue"? That was tried in the beginning, but Assad did just the opposite of everything he said he was going to do within DAYS after making promises and made Lavrov look like a total fool. I was surprised that Russia kept standing behind Assad after that.

This letter sounds so amateurish. As if bloodshed wasn't already a daily occurrence over there or something.

Military action isn't going to solve their problems, but civilized dialogue was thrown out the window early on too.

If the Syrian government is so anxious for Congress to come over to Syria, why did he delay the U.N. inspection team from entering? Why did he make them wait until August after a chemical weapons attack in March? Does Assad really believe anyone's going to buy into this crap?

I read this on Sky News, this thread needs much more attention.

Very interesting how they go on about Saudi financing and common enemy's, and the arrested rebel fighters caught with sarin etc.

Usually a letter pretty much pleading like this, would be seen as weak, but I think they have done the right thing, and this letter needs to be seen by more people.

Russia today said they had evidence from shells that point to the rebels firing the chemical weapons.

It's cat and mouse, and both are lieing to up the other.
