The potential future of civilization is in the hands of Congress.
I am from the UK,but if the fate of the world rested with my elected representatives,I would start digging a bunker.
How do you feel your congress will vote?
How many are bought off corporate greed freaks?
How many are good folks?

I am soo sorry if I mean to sound sarcastic,

that was the last thing in my mind, sometimes I write stuff and my problems with the English grammar gets in the way, after all I am America born but grew up in a all Spanish country.

But I disagree, US will attack and it will be an invasion, but then again is my personal opinion.

Why can't there be some non military punishment like Syrian government paying compensation to the killed and wounded people. Punishment has to be rendered for using WMDs but only military does not make sense. It can destroy peace in the region, spike oil prices, slide down the stock markets and end up hurting most the people who are not even distinctly connected to the mess in that region.

I don't think any government will go that route. People will then start demanding the western countries start compensating all the people killed in Iraq, Afghanistan etc. Also the rebels are not innocent either. Just watch all the gruesome videos of them butchering people.

I agree with what you say but it has to apply to all parties involved.

While praising the December strikes, Saleh “lamented” the use of cruise missiles, according to the Wikileaks cable, because they are “not very accurate.” In the meeting, Petraeus claimed that “the only civilians killed were the wife and two children of an AQAP operative at the site,” which was blatantly false. Saleh told Petraeus he preferred “precision-guided bombs” fired from fixed-wing aircraft. “We’ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours,” Saleh said. Deputy Prime Minister Alimi then joked that he had just “lied” by telling the Yemeni Parliament that the bombs in Arhab, Abyan and Shabwa were US-made but deployed by Yemen.

International forces had been involved in an operation against the Taleban - an air strike was called in but the missile struck a wedding party by mistake, killing as many as 40 people, women and children among them.
"My wounded son was in my arms, right here, bleeding," the father of the bride, Roozbeen Khan, told AFP news agency. "He died last night.
"I lost two sons, two grandsons, a nephew, my mother and a cousin."
Villagers said a wedding lunch had just ended when someone, perhaps a Taleban fighter, fired at international troops on a nearby hill, AFP reported. The soldiers returned fire and called in air support.

If my "Smart" phone is anything to go by, then yeah, not very smart at all.

He (Putin) then said Russia might restart Syria's suspended S-300 air defence missile contract. Describing the weapon as "very efficient", he said: "If we see that steps are taken that violate the existing international norms, we shall think how we should act in the future, in particular regarding supplies of such sensitive weapons to certain regions of the world." The statement could also be a veiled threat to revive a contract for the delivery of the S-300s to Iran, which Russia cancelled a few years ago under strong US and Israeli pressure.

This is ratcheting up more each day.
Not good.

A threat that amounts to.....

"if your going to bomb them we are going to suck every penny out of them on junk that will never actually give them a win while you do it"

and

"oh boy if our equipment sinks a US ship we will sure sell a lot of these in the coming years"

I think Obama, Kerry, McCain should be impeached and/or recalled from office. The sooner, the better. I am beyond frustrated and annoyed that my tax dollars keep getting wasted in imperialist wars and have these jackass politicians who are in the pockets of the rich elite, have the #ing nerve to shove bull# in my face every day or two.

What russia does is besides the point. NATO has no business in the middle east anymore other than to protect israel to some degree. We had no business in libya, no business in iraq, no business in egypt, no business in syria.

USA has $17 trillion debt and instead of cutting down on wasteful spending and trying to pay back some of it, we ARE CONTINUING down this wrong UNCALLED FOR path. Why should any american, british, french give a # about syria? What can be gained? What did we gain from libya and iraq? Nothing at all, just headaches and debt.

9000 miles away from home!!!!!!!!!!! If there were problems in canada, mexico or western europe THEN SURE, but that is not the case. Man I hate beating 'a dead horse' in every thread but the american government is out of control and needs to be stopped. There should be no emergency meetings, no congressional approvals, no jerk like kerry and mcain saying unprovable theories as facts, no hysteria, nothing. Just a vacation which after all was summer.

Damm it!

I only partially agree to the logic of Arab Spring.................general populations were not in good shape, merely scraping by on food subsidies. Decades old dictatorial management had to pave way for more freedom of action and enterprise.

However, it would have been better if slow steady strong approach was taken rather than just try to throw out the regime one single day. Ended in near or complete civil wars in every country. Destruction, destitution etc. set in.

Not that approach. Got to follow Chinese approach to reforms. Slowly they caught speed and gained solid strength in economics and standards of living.

Totally agree that US and NATO had no business in these countries. Instead of a role of a good guide and even lending some help, they took the role of an instigator and fueled the civil wars to bring nonsense to general populations. Pathetic actions from the most advanced countries on earth. Pathetic !!

The muslim brotherhood is bad news. They are the political arm of alqueda which supposedly was responsible for 9-11-2001. How can any reasonable person forget that horrible tragedy and give weapons to these dangerous religious fanatics?

In egypt when morsi was president they made the economy WORST, not better. They discriminated against religious minorities like christians and jews, often burning down 500 year old churches. They destroyed tourism because foreigners do not like war zones. They even threatened to knock down the pyramids which is the staple of tourism.

In turkey erdogan wants to slowely bring sharia law just like morsi of egypt, but he is a cunning man and does it slowely thus gets no criticism. Yet he has been funneling weapons to FSA now for at least a year which in effect is a declaration of war against syria. He has no respect for assad, the government, the people at all. He is a nato puppet that will get used up and spit out when they are done with him.

agreed. And even if we don't hit anything nuclear, it wouldn't surprise me if the players involved over there spread around some nuclear materials and then pointed fingers at the USA screaming 'they nuked us' or 'they caused bigger problems'.

NOTHING over there is what is seems. Not a dang thing ....

Guess muslim nations or rather ME nations know only two types of government: Socialist Dictatorship like Egypt, Libya, Syria in the last 4-5 decades or Religious/Sultan Dictatorship like Saudi, Kuwait, Oman etc.

Events of the last two years have shown that it is better for US to keep its nose out of the matters of such countries. Until and unless ofcourse there are massive human rights abuses. Even then why only US to take on the headache, why not EU or China or Russia or Arab Organization etc. Guess once a country shows a sign of changes then it becomes a horse race to plant one's own friendly government in that country to reap business profits later on.

It wouldn`t even take a direct strike on the facility to cause major problems. If the power or water gets knocked out that could cause some problems for the facility.i`m sure they have emergency water and power supplies for the facility but so did fukashima and just look at what a mess a little earthquake caused to that place.

This whole ordeal simply put is like playing Texas Hold Em' and having that ugly or stupid stern "Poker Face". The difference is, no ones going to have a royal flush...no one is going to win this one.

I'm more than confident that our military without a doubt knows where everything is located within Syria and would not strike such a location. BUT....Russia will react in some way shape form or fashion while fashioning a true "Poker Face" the whole time if they deem this "слишком уродливым", that's "too ugly" in Russian. That's a guarantee!

This whole ordeal stinks to high heaven and we need to keep our noses clean on this one because...

Not sure they were socialist dictatorships like bin laden claimed, but regardless they were MUCH BETTER than muslim brotherhood dominated governments that discriminate against anyone different than them.

The problem is religion and non-secular thinking. Religion is a disease of the mind based on fake history. I never really liked it, and now that I have done increasingly more research on aliens and ufos, I truely see things for what they are.

Thanks for the debate.
