Whats up, everyone!

I'm a 25 year old man, and i have seen the truth of Jesus Christ and his father God about since about march of last year, but i only stopped being lazy and started doing things to actually become a better person and build myself up spiritually about 5 months ago

Before i learned of Yahweh being an actual real God and Jesus being a real spirit that God sent to earth, i was a beleiver in the whole ancient aliens theory of alien beings from Nibiru/Planet X coming to earth in search of gold and stuff, creating us humans to go dig it up for them. That made the most sense to me at the time, looking at all the evidence that was presented with this theory. Before that i ascribed to evolution. During these times and up to until i started praying most to everyday 5 moths ago, i did whatever i felt like, within reason and societal morals.

Now that i see God and Jesus as no joke, i cut out a few things. I stopped burning so i could get my mind focused (i think God was telling me to ditch the bud for the past few recent months anyway, i would get these weird good and bad voices and opinions in my thoughts when i was high, after years of burning). I started praying twice a day most days, some days i forget, or fall asleep and forget to pray. I am trying to clean up the thoughts in my mind concerning women (i'm a 3 year paraplegic from a traumatic spinal injury, and my reproductive organs are on permanent hiatus), that is HARD. I fail daily, even though i cut out all porn. I am reading this book geared towards young men that guidelines them on how to clean up their sexua| thoughts and actions. After that i want to tackle the KJV bible.

Another thing that i cut out that i love is videogames. My ps3 died, and my lil bro let me borrow his when he went to the marines. But he took it with him upon heading back after leave, and i din't bother buying another one, and don't really miss it (videogames have been getting boring and generic this console generation) I mostly concentrate on reading up on random things online, or the books i have with me.

There is this game called Grand Theft Auto 5 coming out where you play as three criminals. You pull off robberies, blow things up, gunfight in the street, have high speed chases, and do all things straight criminal for whatever reasons the characters in the game do them. I must say, it looks like amazing fun, and REALLY want it.

I have DEEPLY hated and avoided television and mainstream music, culture and trends for several years now, so i consider myself mostly unplugged from the mental matrix.

Would God mind me playing videogames? Especially something like Grand theft Auto 5? I can commit myself to reading my bible daily, having God in mind and heart, and only playing videogames a few hours a day, i rarely went over that in my gaming history, anyway. What do you guys think?

i think God was telling me to ditch the bud

if he created it , why is it a bad thing. According to the scriptures things used in excess are a sin.

but partaking in herbal remedies in moderation is not a sin.

but then again the scriptures say some off the wall stuff

There is nothing wrong with trying out something in a simulated environment where no one can get hurt is there?

If you think of sex a lot and have fantasies on what you would like to experience does that hurt another being? Does it teach you things about yourself?

Let me put your mind at ease. God doesn't care if you play video games. It's when they start affecting what you think, say and ultimately DO is where the problem lies. If you play videogames but you don't start acting and living that life but just for pure entertainment and it stops there, why would God hold that against you? He wouldn't. Scripture says it's what comes out of the mouth that defileth a man not what goes in. In life you have to endure many sinful things just be sure it doesn't affect the way you live your life. Of course it also depends on your responsibilities on the example you set on those that are dependant on you. Even though you might be able to keep these in a video game and out of your life, if someone else copies you and cannot do the same and ends up in problems, then you need to decide for yourself if your actions will be hurting anyone. Always ask that question if your actions could be a danger to anyone else.

As for thinking sex, you are a man and that is perfectly natural. The fornication that the bible speaks about that you must refrain from is "messing with other spiritual doctrines." The soul is female and the seed are the teachings that go into the mind which is like a whomb where ideas can be born. This is why scripture says your loins must be covered with the truth. Don't confuse spiritual reproduction with natural reproduction.

You are blessed to have the fear of God, the fear to disapoint him because you love him. Wonderful.

Your god has instilled inside you a mechanism that tells you if something is affecting you morally. If something is bothering you (like playing an awesome game like GTA5), ask yourself if you are bothered because somebody told you that you should be or if it's something that's actually affecting your spirituality.

Do you think your god would leave you hanging and having to resort to asking people on ATS? Nope. Trust your inner voice.

Any Christian already knows that God himself wouldn't approve of a video game like that.

There's a judgment for believers called the "bema seat judgment" In it God will judge your works by flame. Things done on Earth for him and his church (his people not the stone and mortar) become gold and precious stones. Everything else will burn away like chaff. The former will be crafted into crowns (these are the crowns that are cast at Jesus' feet).

You're certainly not hurting anyone with the game. I've been a Christian for a long time and I played San Andreas and GTAiv but I realize it's not a good use of my time. I know I fall into the trap of "well it's not good but it's not as bad as the other stuff people are doing" which I think is a valid argument but it still doesn't make that something good. It's why we need Christ in the first place. All fall short of the glory of God.

If you do play it just remember that God doesn't love you any less because you did. It's a temptation and you may fall for it, perhaps it's a sin and you commit it. The wages of sin are death but remember; Christ has defeated death and you believe in him.

Life is too short and far too important to waste it on distractions that will only hinder us from fulfilling our purpose.

Stepping into the purposes of God is about laying down our desires and focusing our lives on HIS desires.

IMHO, a much better use of your time would be to study the things of God and set your heart on a pilgrimage to be great in eternity.

Begin to study people who are making a DIFFERENCE such as Ian Clayton, Nita Johnson, Sahdu Sundar Selvaraj, Graham Cook, David Hogan, etc.

"There is a passion living inside of the human soul. I think its even unique in this generation. We want something to live for, to fight for, something to die for. This is it… lay down your life, lay down your life, lay down your life, and you will enter into such a divine romance, you will enter into the power of God like you have not known."

"But only when He can trust you. When He can trust you is when you are walking in true humility. When we are walking as He walked in this life, not of this world. My heart is set on a pilgrimage. Not clinging to things, not grasping after the wind, not of this world. Walking steadfast day by day by day, abiding in love doing what He has commanded. Living an expression of His heart in this age."

"You are not of this world. You are going to die in about 50 years, for real, maybe sooner at best. Life is a vapor. You are going to die, sooner then you think. You are going to face the uncreated One, in your barrenness, in your raw self, you are going to face the uncreated One."

"Set your heart on a pilgrimage to be great in eternity. You are going to be there in just a moment, you are going to be there in just a moment. And what you have done in love and service is what is going to stand in that day." Eternity Speaking

Things that you do and spend your time on and think about makes changes to your soul.
Satan loves it if you play violent and evil games.
I had to quit all the shooting games because it was making me a bit annoyed, making me feel unhappy.
I spend more time doing game development than actually playing them, mainly in scenery creation.

It's when you spend too much time on these things, or get addicted is where things can begin to alter your feelings and attitude but it differs from person to person just as some people can stomach watching horror movies but others can't even watch the trailer lol

Just so long as you don't do any drag racing in the game.

You can punch, kick, maim, kill, dismember, pick up prosititues, gamble, curse etc... Just don't get into any drag-racing.

God hates drags..

I'm guessing he made the plant to be used for healing purposes, not to be smoked for cognitive alteration.

Thread not up to your interest standard?

I guess Little Big Planet would be your game of choice then!

Have you worked on anything major so far?

I guess so, that seems most probable right there.

I read that in videogames, you truly have never got anything accomplished, but gives you the illusion that you have accomplished plenty; makes sense.

I have that feeling that God will not care for people entertaining themselves by playing something that is simulating violence and mayhem.

But at the same time, if i divide my time carefully, and spend the time i usually mostly spend on videogames in my life, 3 to 5 hours when i have free time, and devote myself to reading the scriptures, and keeping God in mind and spirit, and letting the games occupy my mind, will he mind?

I guess i'm asking if it's possible to progress spiritually while doing these activities?

If you think that certain actions you do may have a negative effect on you then it doesn't matter what religion you are, you should then try to refrain from those types of activities...

Go ahead and try it and see whether you progress spiritually...IMO the more you study and get to know God and the closer you walk with him you will most likely discontinue to have the urge towards violent games... I'm sure God could find something more positive for you to spend time on.
