Slava, renamed Moskva on July 7, 1995, was laid down on November 5, 1976. As the initial ship of a new class, building time was slower than those of the sisterships. She was launched three years later on July 27, 1979 and almost another four years would pass until Slava was commissioned on February 7, 1983. Moskva ex-Slava was the first of a planned six ship class of the most impressive surface action warship, with the exception of the Kirov Class RKR, to be built by the Soviet Union or the modern Russian Navy. Three are in service with Russian Fleet, Moskva in the Black Sea, Marshall Ustinov in the Northern Fleet and Varyag (Viking) ex-Cheryona Ukraina in the Pacific Fleet. A forth unit Admiral Flota Lobov has been renamed Ukrayina for service in the Ukrainian Navy. A fifth ship, Rossiya, then Oktyabrskaya Revolutsia and a sixth, Admiral Flota Sovetskogo Soyuza Gorshkov were both cancelled on October 4, 1990.
A group of Russia’s Northern Fleet warships has left its home port of Severomorsk and is heading towards the eastern Arctic.
The armada reportedly consists of a heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Pyotr Veliky, two big amphibious warships Olenegorsky Gornyak and Kondopoga, as well as a group of support vessels, such as rescue and tug boats, a handful of transport ships and a tanker.
“The group totals over a dozen of warships and support vessels,” Fleet spokesman Vadim Serga said on Tuesday.
The Northern Fleet’s Commander, Admiral Vladimir Korolyov, told a Russian news agency the main goal of the mission was to prop up Russia’s Arctic status and protect its interests in this economically vital region.

The navy has the capability to stop any deployed anti ship missile with SeaRAM. The Brahmos II is a joint Russian-Indian development so it's actually easier to get information on it. It's not operational yet.

Apparently Putin needs to read the bible (Ezekiel 37-39) to be exact. This does not end well for him or Assad. Putin may want to look tough against a weak Obama but Israel is not scared of Putin and his Navy at all. Israel has way to many Giant killer tricks up its sleeve to mess with in a conventional means so Putin is playing with fire parking his boats in Israels bathtub.
Israel operates the so called quietest sub in the world in the German built Dolphin class, witch I am sure has had some nice improvements added to them by Israel. Not sure if it can top the U.S. Sea Wolf as that is just to classified to release but its one of the best in that regard.

SeaRam (Raytheon) was developed as a response to the feared Russian Sunburn missiles. It has up to date in tests shown a 90% hit rate (against 180 fired missiles) by the navy, which is very good but not perfect score.
If three of 30 launched sunburns against lets say Nimitz gets through, she is toast.

You have no comprehension of how much it takes to sink a modern U.S. Carrier.. Short of a nuke and she will not sink. That is why the Russians have nuclear torpedo's. The Carrier is also protected by all of her ships in the task force as the Aegis system will and can direct fire from all the ships against those 30 missiles. If Russia dares to sink one of our Carriers it better be ready to lose Moscow.
