Fireball over northern Italy - September 03, 2013

A bright fireball has been seen over northern Italy aroud 02:12 local time (00:12 UT) of September 03, 2013.

Some witnesses in the Veneto region have reported hearing sounds (such as explosions) after the passage of the fireball.

On the same night, at 02:26 local time (00:26 UT) - 14 minutes after the Fireball - our All-Sky camera imaged another bright meteor. You can see the image and the animation below (click here or on the thumbnail for a bigger version).

"Some witnesses in the Veneto region have reported hearing sounds (such as explosions) after the passage of the fireball. "

It's very hard to say they are more frequent, we just take more attention also people recording more night sky ..

When I was kid before 30-40 years I was watching all night meteors with my father and see many and most spectacular meteors also very frequent ..

It's very different from recorded, watching live it is just incomparably ..

We will pass through the ISON tail so we will have new meteor rain, also probably very nice one with some beautiful and colored meteor ..

Thats a brilliant vid of a meteor doing its thing! Stunning!

The loud explosions are sonic booms of varying scale as the meteor breaks up as the heat goes up and up as it gets closer to the earth and has more and more resistive, thicker air to move through.
