Much as I dislike the current administration... The very same thing was said about Bush, both of 'em...and Clinton.

How would they enforce martial law on a nation of 300 million people? That same nation that stretches the width of an entire continent? Drones can't do it. Soldiers can't, many wouldn't. It's an impossible task. Not to mention the fact that many of that 300 million would not be happy, and would probably not be shy about voicing, in one fashion or another, that displeasure.

If we attack Syria then Martial Law is inevitable IMO. The domino effect will lead us to that point.

Food and gas prices will rocket causing civil unrest...and...well you know the rest.

But the new President of 2016 would declare martial law though as the economy gets worse. I pray though that the new President isn't a Fascist Theocrat since there are rumors that Washington is influenced by secret Christian theocrats. What even bad these Theocrats are said to have influence over elements within the US military which means that these theocrats could use the military against us.

Well I say look at things on a real perspective and sugar coat nothing. Aside from false promises he acheived his place by his color. Come to the Deep South where racism is rampid still. There are still people supporting him and have not even turned on the news to see what he is standing for. He is untouchable. Not only because he is the president but because he is a minority. Attempt to argue with a man blindly following Obama. On ANY valid point. It will come back to " you don't like him cause he is black " I have seen this personally.
That said lets say the president is a puppet of those pulling the strings. If that in Infact true they will make their move during his presidency. Less chance of a civil war. As long as we devide ourselves along racial and political lines we could never think for a moment to stand against the government.

What Purpose would it serve ?

After 9-11 , certainly a Major water Mark for the US , what was it our President want us to do?

Did he want us to Hunker Down in our Homes?

Did he want us to Break out our Guns and check to see if our Powder was Dry?

Nope.

He wanted us to go Shopping.....

Martial Law , and the Threat of it, is just Another Scare Tactic of an Opposing Political Party to Scare the Dim Witted into a Lather about the Current POTUS and their Party.

I suppose he/she could declare martial law. That much is true.

But you have to be able to enforce it. How? This country is simply too big, both in terms of geography, and in population.

New York city would be tough... New York state next to impossible. All of New England? the Deep South? The West? Impossible. All those regions at once? Beyond impossible.

All the active duty military, along with reserves and National Guard aren't enough. How many police are actually going to cooperate? Some will, without a doubt. But how many? How about the military? How many of those men and women are going to go along with it? We've already seen, and are seeing, signs that the military isn't exactly fond of the directions things are going...

Martial law? You need marshals first. ...and I've doubts they'll be able to find enough to do the job. I certainly wouldn't help.

All I can say to those people who have sat by and watched, is that we tried to warn you 25 years ago and every day from that one to this one that you were funding and supporting what amounts to the Fourth Reich...and instead of applauding us the risk in doing just that, instead of considering what we were saying and seeing/proving for yourself, let alone standing up and actively reigning in your own government, we were laughed at spat upon vilified, ostracized and treated like morons. For anyone that believes the police would not support a government imposed martial law... Ask a officer.
My county has 20000 people at most in it. Lately we happen to see a APV being escorted by local law enforcement. I asked a long time friend, that had recently joined the force, if it was for our local pd. He said he didn't know. When I asked why we would need anything like that. He said to trust them. If they think they need it. They need it. This is a area that has never had a stand off or riot. Yet they need this to maintain order. When I expressed my disbelief he got pretty belligerent and hasn't spoke to me till this day.
I found that very troubling. And felt that story was close to this matter.

I find this fear very unreasonable, and can't seem to understand what has given people the impression. I can't imagine what anyone would hope to obtain from such actions, except massive rioting, financial loss and a huge administrative burden.
Currently the world-elite are richer and more powerful than they've ever been and they don't have to do anything extraordinary to maintain that position, cause apparently most people are content enough with the current situation to not have any want to protest it. But if Martial Law was installed it would disrupt the entire system.

Governments stopped using violence to control their populous a long time ago. They do it though manipulation, usually using fear as the main motivator. Installing feelings of nationalism making sure that the national flag is represented at every celebratory event, installing a feeling of self righteousness by using phrases like "we are the greatest nation on earth"... yeah right. So was the third Reich according to the Germans and the Roman Empire before that.

Don't be fooled. Martial Law is just a fear tactic they use to manipulate you into acting crazy. It aint coming.

I don't see it happening without a massive catalyst. Something big would have to happen.
The collapse of the dollar is the only thing I could think of. Because it would be rioting. Imagine if all the American people who have been saving money their entire lives to retire ( most by now assume social security isn't very secure ) rely on 401k's and IRA to help them survive in their latter years. Then if the dollar collapsed all the time and effort would be worth less than what we wipe our crevice with. But that's merely speculation of course.

Yes but Obama has been itching to do it since he took office.
He tried in 09 with the alleged H1N1 pandemic.
I suspect he will try one more time before leaving office.
