Kim Jong-un's ex-girlfriend was among a dozen well-known North Korean performers who were executed by firing squad on Aug. 20, reports said Wednesday.

Sources in China said singer Hyon Song-wol as well as Mun Kyong-jin, head of the Unhasu Orchestra, were arrested on Aug. 17 for violating North Korean laws against pornography and were executed in public three days later.

The victims of the atrocity were members of the Unhasu Orchestra as well as singers, musicians and dancers with the Wangjaesan Light Music Band.

They were accused of videotaping themselves having sex and selling the videos. The tapes have apparently gone on sale in China as well.

A source said some allegedly had Bibles in their possession, and all were treated as political dissidents.

A source said, "Kim Jong-un has been viciously eliminating anyone who he deems a challenge to his authority." The executions "show that he is fixated on consolidating his leadership."

Claims are being made by the South China Morning Post that singer Hyon Song-wol was gunned down in front of her family just three days after being arrested for breaching North Korean pornography laws, South Korea's largest daily newspaper reported.

Hyon, who first met Kim about a decade ago, was among a dozen well-known performers executed with machineguns.

"They were executed with machine guns while the key members of the Unhasu Orchestra, Wangjaesan Light Band and Moranbong Band as well as the families of the victims looked on," a source said.

The families of the executed have allegedly been sent to prison camps under the rogue country's guilt by association laws.

Kim and Hong dated until his despot dad Kim Jong-il ordered their relationship to end.

They were rumoured to be having an affair despite eventually marrying other people, with Kim's new wife Ri Sol-ju herself a former member of the Unhasu Orchestra.

Talk about political madness....this guy is a tyrant....a demon...someone who seems "Hitler" like with a vision that seems very unfriendly and caring.

I hope Karma gets to him one day.

I guess this ought to answer the curiosity of all the people who were rushing to defend the little psychopath back when he was threatening to nuke Tokyo because they pissed him off.

If I'm not mistaken? The US negotiators just arrived in North Korea this week to seek release for Kenneth Bae. He was the U.S. Citizen imprisoned on vague charges of "acts against North Korea' after being busted helping Orphans in a DPRK town on the Chinese border.

I'm thinking, if the net is being scrubbed? (free speech... gotta love that fantasy, eh?) then it has to do with Kerry not wanting to look like a horse's ass (again) by being sandbagged by media while his people are trying to work.

I'd find it amusing...except that it's a real human being caught in the middle and serving a 15yr death sentence in the DPRK hard labor camps.

Here's a current article from the UK: Kim Jong-un's ex-lover 'executed by firing squad' and it's still a headline on Google News, so I don't think it's getting scrubbed from teh Interwebs.

I read about that, what a dirty shame, I even went and found a you-tube of the band members,

dirty shame.

The silence from groups such as Amnisty International is deafening.

Say what you will about them but I'll bet they don't have a revolving door problem with their criminals.
