They didn't want to get lynched!
Let's turn this around a bit... If you were an American in Baghdad, on 9/12, would you be so keen to go out into the street? I doubt it....
Please don't allow the media to be the only source of your opinion of Muslims in general. Most of them, are some of the nicest people I've ever
known. Terrorism, etc. is not the actions of the majority, but rather a small and radical minority. However, they are the only ones who get press,
as it makes good entertaining news stories... *sigh*
Try getting to know a Muslim personally, ask him/her about their faith, and then color an opinion towards them...
As to profiling...as long as there is no unjust treatment, and the delay is reasonable, etc. I don't have as much of a problem with it. If a certain
race, ethnicity, etc. is statisticly more apt to commit a certain crime, then it makes sense to pay closer attention to that group. I fly often in my
job, and it always cracks me up when I'm boarding the plane, and I see an old lady pulled to the side for a security check, but the two arab men
before her were not, simply because the guards were too afraid of committing a "foul"....*sigh*...
