The Martin Luther King 50th Anniversary is today. I wish I were there for this historic event. MLK fought for so many people and people's rights that the least I could do to honor him is to be there.

then you look around...
see pants saggin, poor grammer, no education, broken families, thugs...... and MLK rolls over in his grave saying, "damn, all I have done for my people, and this is how they honor our equal rights".

But, that being said, without a doubt, Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the best men to ever live.
He should have been the first "black" president in my opinion.
Salud to him.

Yes, it's a real shame to see. After all that has been fought for by King and others. Bill Clinton called it when he said "....there's no room for complaining but room for action..." Obama has said that excuses were used for voilence or neglect of raising children properly.

I wish I were there.

I do wonder if jr. being in jail 50yrs later was part of the dream?

Can't believe there wasn't a thread on ATS already.

Just watched this

www.bbc.co.uk...

And it was fantastic.

Really brings home the struggle and shows how insane it was that something like that happened only 50 years ago.
