Crocodile Tears, Oiling the Jaws of the War Machine

So, now it seems to be a foregone conclusion; an alleged chemical attack, allegedly perpetrated by a government against civilians, has caused a red line to be crossed and the crosshairs of the mighty US to be centered on Syria.

It's not a matter of if, but when the missiles will start falling. A speech by the US Secretary of State and statements by the White House Press Secretary have made it clear that the US will indeed intervene militarily in the Syrian civil war.

There's no evidence that Assad's military is responsible. Quite the contrary, logic and reason dictate the opposite. Consider these facts:

1 - The target in question, a civilian area near the capital, had no strategic military value whatsoever
2 - The majority of the international community had already threatened Assad's government with dire repercussions should they use CWs in the conflict.

In other words, what Assad is accused of (without any evidence) is suicidal stupidity. He has nothing to gain from it, but everything to lose. But we're being told that's what happened, that the US government has all the evidence it needs to act without approval, and you're a sadistic supporter of mass murder and infanticide if you question it.

Yeah.

Who stands to gain anything from US intervention, besides US corporate oil/military/reconstruction interests? Why, the many different terrorist organizations already proven to be working in the shadows on the ground, that's who! But its ridiculous to blame it on the terrorist-supported "rebels," because it's impossible anybody else could have done it other than Assad.

What did Libya gain from its uprising? What about Egypt? Nothing. However, terrorist organizations got real-world combat training and inroads into countries that had kept them out for decades.

We've seen this before, under Bush, and there were protests in every major city. Thousands of people coming out against an unjust war. Where is the moral outrage against Syrian intervention? Will it happen? Time will only tell, but if this administration has demonstrated prowess in any political maneuvering, it's with controlling the narrative.

The narrative is that this time, it's different.

In reality, this time, it's just that a different head on the same monster is calling the shots, and controlling the smoke and mirrors.

There will be no out cry, no demonstrations, and no complaints from the general public. Something happening on the other side of the world doesn't affect the majority of US citizens so they won't care except for a rise in gas prices.

This (soon to be) war in Syria will be Obama's Iraq and no one will say a damn thing because, well, he's Obama. Covering up the many scandals with a "right" and "just" war will somehow win him approval from the senseless masses.
It's sad and pathetic.
