Syria. Yikes. I think it's time to restock ...

We are 'kinda preppers'. But I admit that I've been lax lately. Looking at Syria, and looking at the players involved, it seems the whole world is involved (or soon will be). China, Russia, USA, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran, France, UK, Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, etc etc .... If that doesn't look like the makings for a World War .. I don't know what does.

So ... anyone else keeping an eye on this and thinking the same thing that I am?? Time to double check supplies and restock?? Or are you all more vigilant with your supplies/goods than I am?? Do you find yourselves getting lax ... or are you all just topping off supplies and making a few tweeks here and there??

I suppose hard core preppers don't let these things rattle them.
I"m not 'rattled' .. but I'd say that I'm hyper aware of Syria at the moment ...

I confess .. I don't keep up with my 'kinda prepping' like I should?
Anyone else lax off too??
And what do you think about Syria .. is it the match that will light it all up??

I'm not really a prepper ( I just saw your post on the recent posts page). Maybe I should become one though.

Like you, I am a bit....Wary... of what's going on with Syria and just how many players are in this game right now. Another thing that concerns me is that I did see a poll recently ( I forget where I saw it and I have a headache, so please bear with my laziness in not finding it and posting it) that suggested the majority of Americans are against US involvement in Syria.

Yet, here is the US stating they are ready to go.

I am living in a country that no longer cares what it's citizens want. It used to be by the people for the people and somewhere along the line that changed.

Well, maybe it is time for me to start watching out for myself, since the government doesn't want to anymore. Since they are too busy hunting down whistle blowers and trying to start unwanted wars etc...

Maybe I should start prepping. Make a bug out bag....Things like that.

I don't know what else to say other than I am very disappointed in my own government.... And even more disappointed that it feels like, in saying I am disappointed in my own government, the NSA might put me on a list or something.

I'm just rambling now, I guess. But...There it is.

I know a lot of people on here are saying this will be nothing.

Allow me to quote a line from the movie Platoon. "Bob, I got a bad feeling about this one."

This very well could be the start of our worst nightmare. Will Syria retaliate? I don't know. A lot of these leaders talk tough until they get a dose of American firepower and just how awesome--for lack of a better word--it truly is.

I think Israel had better be ready. If Syria or Iran attack Israel then it will escalate very quickly.

I personally haven't been this nervous about us attacking someone. I fear this is going to get rather ugly in a very short time.

I"m making lists ... going through stuff .... I really let my prepping get down .... Also, the Farmers Almanac said extra cold and extra snowy .. so I have to keep that in mind. I was just wondering if others thought this situation was getting their attention and they were doing the same.

I don't think you'd have anything to worry about. From what I heard the you es had a missle sheild built already back around 1970. The only war that would go on would be in heebee geebee ville

Incoming missiles, no fear.

Activated terror sleeper cells? That is what I think Flyer's... and a lot of the rest of us... are a bit concerned by.

Either way, it's never a bad idea to double down and make sure your supply is current and ready to go.

Hi there.

Guess the situation may require a little bit of prepping.. just incase.

But what if WW3 erupted, and our respective countrys started a draft?

Prepping would go right down the drain, unless your supplies could last the length of the war and if you could keep your head down.

The only thing I could really prep is getting extra food and books.

Here in the UK bugging out is not a real option due to lack of space in my oppinion.

Who knows how long WWIII will last ..... a few months of intense ... a few years ...
Whatever the length of time, having something is more helpful than having nothing.
No one will help you except yourself.

Care to share what items you need/have?


My main thing was a solar charger for my phone. As I don't have a PC it contains a couple of "How toooo" books.

Also a lot of music.

The only thing is that its starting to act funny and may need replacing.
I also regret not purchasing a Bow and some arrows. I've had a few archery lessons recently, and would like something that could be used in that capacity.

I also have not bought an inverter for my car.

I know there's the possibility of power going down etc. But would like to be able to power some things if they still work.

I think what you and others such as myself are doing to prep for the upcoming s###storm is a very good idea even if there are no attacks to the U.S but I think the cost of things will soon skyrocket, so stock up on t.p, water,powder milk, rice, vitamins, first aid, powdered broths and other items that wont spoil if the power goes out.
Oh and don't forget about safety and protection.

I would write down as much useful info as you can maps, survival tips... and protect them in a waterproof bag and try not to rely on electronics.

run down. Canned goods. Dry goods. Long term storage. Shame shame on me.

The thing is ... even if the supplies can't last a whole war, they will get you through at least part
of it. And that is helpful. Every bite of food is helpful. Ya' know?

Definately! Getting through those first weeks/months when supplies are short and don't get to the shop on time, only when they do get into the shop, prices will be high.

Maybe the UK will revert back to rationing like WW2.

Limited supply for all...

Hi there. Yeah, I've written down somethings, things which I really should memorise - Such as finding North with a wristwatch, and basic traps. (Although, I don't think I'll be trapping much anyway)

My geographical knowledge is better than a few months back.

And I think I'll share how.

I've been volunteering with a local cause that cleanes up walking trails/bridle paths. Also dealing with some plant life.

This has made me physically walk these trails in my area, helping my to recognise places/land marks etc. (And possible hiding places)

Its not something I've really seen recomended in survival forums though, but id recommend it.

I'm thinking that my prepping to bug out days are over...to a degree. I'm thinking more along the lines of bugging in these days.

After my back went out last year, I really don't have a choice in the matter.

I have a pond out back, and I keep my toilet and bathtub spotless, just in case. Water is key. Also, where once was a healthy diet of fresh veggies and meat has now been supplemented by canned goods. Not replaced, but they are there in the cupboards.

Had to get rid of the shotgun as well since my back could not take firing it anymore. That was a painful lesson. Though I did replace it with a .22 which gives me no problems. Though ammo is still hard to come by.

I am healing slowly but surely and hope to have my BoB back up to snuff one of these days where I can do the long marches I used to. But I'm not counting on it.

I think it is time to restock, for both scenarios. All this talk of war with Syria is starting to make me wonder if the bible wasn't right after all. I've never really considered myself religious and looked at the bible as more of a historical text and a guidebook to live a good life, rather than prophetic. But this is getting kind of scary.

A stick in the ground can help you find North rather easily and is more reliable than a watch.

But at least you are expanding your horizons.

IF WWIII is coming, and you are in the U.S., conventional war from an outside threat in the U.S. is not an issue. There are only a few things to bug out about IMO if WWIII kicks off.

#1. Nukes. The only big player that can really do that is Russia, but we obviously are capable of the same mutual destruction. So honestly, there really aren't many things that would trigger it unless someone made a big mistake. Not sure how much bugging out would help..

#2. "Terrorist" style activity ie Dirty bombs etc. Of course we have been told this since 9/11 and these types of threats have been the excuse for everything the govt has done to take away our liberties and we could make a whole thread about that.. meh, bug out if you must though..

#3. Social unrest (collapse of the dollar?) This is really the only scenario that could realistically warrant a serious bug out situation. The U.S. has the greatest military in the world, there is no outside military threat that could do very much at all to the mainland. Not even Russia/China in terms of conventional warfare. The ONLY real threat are the people that reside here causing mass panic and rioting in the streets and our own military turning against the people. Are we heading in that direction? Some say yes.. Would WWIII cause it? I'm not sure.

Racially Motivated Riots fueled by the MSM: Get the US military involved in a war overseas since it is governed by that pesky US Constitution while you get the American populace up in arms over more race baiting, then use the militarized police forces, who only answer to the politicians, to enact martial law.

I hate hate HATE all this doom porn, but things are getting way too out of hand.

We have bug out bags, but we are getting too old to be running around lugging huge backpacks. Shelter in place, when possible, makes the most sense. And we live in the megalopolis so it's not like we can go anywheres anyways ...
