The Truman Air Wing has E/A-18 Growlers that can be used for SEAD missions, as well as E-2C/D Hawkeyes that can be used for AWACS missions to help patrol the airspace for the incoming strikes, as well as the seaspace around the ships launching missiles. That frees up the E-3s the Air Force has to watch the other side of Syria.

Both the Truman and the Nimitz are currently on the wrong side of things though.

Personally i think the US proclaimed light military respons towards Syria is for a much bigger event, that probably will make some heads spin nexst week.

And it wont be ww3.

The out come of the US light military repons to Syria will initiate a war between either Syria and Israel, or Syria and Iran against Israel. The US will then step back and let them Battle it out. The US wont step in because Russia will play the Counter part so it will look like their hand are tied. It would be a Perfect excuse to not side With Israel physically.

They haven't in any other war they've fought in, so I wouldn't hold my breath this time either.

UK Parliament is absolute uproar as US awaits. I wonder if the UK will back out I hope so I dont want to see us being dragged into the war if it turns nasty. Then its left down to France and US to make a decision.

I just listened to the briefing here the US. He pretty much said the potus feels there is a national thread and he's gonna do what he wants.... without Congressional approval. As we know, he has his own agenda... I will leave it at that - for now. My questions is, since obummer stated "he" is going to take action, I have not heard one word about what is going on now in Syria... ??? Are any of you getting any reports???

From what I'm hearing it's been pretty much business as usual the last couple of days. It's hard to find reports though. Their ambassador to the UN suddenly said "Oh, hey! While your inspectors are there, there were three more gas attacks last week we didn't tell you about" to stall the inspectors. They were supposed to leave this weekend.

King Abdullah of Jordan met with the Pope yesterday, and both agreed that dialogue is the only way to end this whole mess successfully.

Yes, because of the New information, they were to prolong the inspection until Monday and leave on tuesday. The News now is that they will finish on Friday and head Out saturday.

If there is going to be a attack. It will earliest take Place after the inspecters have left on saturday.

See that is what I am talking about - everyone is talking about what everyone else is going to do... I'm talking about what is going on, "on the ground in Syria" in the past few days... we were getting information before and now it appears blacked out.

LOL! Does anyone really believe that?

Assad has never held up his promises about talks in the past. He's Ahmadinejad, jr. when it comes to talking.

Could someone explain this to me

No news; no update; nothing from the White House or State Department... but WTI Crude futures collapsed over $1.50 into the close in minutes on very heavy volume. We are sure someone somewhere knows why... though the Press Briefing may just have started the world's fears over the credibility of the US case...

Is this good or bad?

He's also one of the closest to Syria, so he's going to do what he can to keep his country from being caught in the crossfire, or hit in retaliation.

All while Jordan has been implicit in the military effort to overthrow the Syrian government..
Never mind the thousands of US/British troops, f-16's and Patriot missles

He knows that Syria will retaliate if the US hits them, and he's trying to play both sides to keep the damage to Jordan to a minimum.
