So we have Assad's group which includes support from Hezbollah. Hit Assad and the other will keep things going. Then there is al Qaeda with its many tightly nit offshoots - who are anti-western. We have all of the displaced citizens (the majority of the population) who would probably follow any government as long as they can be home and safe.
The kurds seem to want to be left alone (the ideal for them), and other than a few other groups who just want peace it appears all fighters include terrorists. So how do you intervene on them? Your saying take Assad out because of his atrocities but what about Hezbollah? What about Al Qaeda? Leave them? We can't just take Assad out. Its bigger than that and could make things even worse than they are (who gets those weapons if Assad doesn't have control? None of the options look good based on a limited intervention. I say help those in refugee camps, get citizens to safe places, and let the rest kill each other. They will never stop otherwise - ever. It's their purpose in life.

I repeat................

Assad types can remain in power and enjoy the goodies of free market economies but stupid items like Emergency Rule which allows his henchmen to jail anyone for any cause, such things need to go.

I understand, you don't want to look past that to see what comes after Assad goes. Fair enough.

Very correct !! I do not like Soviet Union like "knee jerk or rather knee break" reaction to transitions in national variables. The Russian economy sunk by nearly 80% in 90s and various established structures of that sustain the society were deeply jolted if not destroyed. Nearly the whole country was traumatized and majority were starved of basic needs.

Third World nations are not much different. In such times, criminal and resourceful opportunists take advantage of the situation and deeply hurt the common vulnerable citizens. Firm leadership with respect for law and without oppression is my model for any national scale transition.

I do not think Russia is married to Assad. The problem is the kind of governments coming after the "revolutions". The biggest example is Libya.

Iraq is unable to come out of civil war. Allied occupation has created conditions that has made pacification of any group impossible.

In addition are West's threat to Iran.

Russia sees massive unrest on its southern periphery; and it is correct in its approach.

USA sits thousands of miles afar. It can hit and run, which is not possible for the countries in the region.

Russia was a target of a deep Western conspiracy that created communism.

Russia is very lucky to come out of communism.

Russia has suffered greatly but the future holds good things for Russia.

Its nice to hear it put that way. We can indeed hit and run while the countries in that region cannot. They need to have more weight in these decisions for this reason alone. If they have chosen a side it is for a reason. I personally don't see how al Qaeda, coming out of Iraq, and happy to take Syria over would be a better option for Russia. Putin has been level headed on all of this so far (at least in front of the media). His opinion matters.

Putin is every bit as much of a delusional religious idiot as George bush is.

That guy is as invested in the Christian self-fulfilling doomsday prophecy as the wackiest right-wing fundie. These people WANT world war three because it validates their religious beliefs.

And I'll say it again......

Syria is merely a domino in the larger Chess Game.

Main aim for Syria, the same as every other Mid east and North African dictatorship, is to create an atmosphere where there is constant internal civil unrest,........Divide and Conquer.

The target is Russia and China....but you cannot focus on these two in earnest while there are potential thorns in your side elsewhere.

Get rid of those thorns (or get them into a cycle of continuous violence) and they will not pose a threat to you when you prepare to attack Russia and China.

Syria will become another domino on the way towards the Conquest of the Eurasian Landmass in 20 years time.

What are you talking here? Russian communism was a Western conspiracy? I know the roots of communism were Jewish but how does that connect to western conspiracy? Can you kindly elaborate.

Russia lucky to be out of Communism? Wonder why would US fight Vietnam and Korea and other wars to STOP communism from spreading.

Such wild theories just DO NOT make sense.

Somewhere I read that Syria is a lynch pin to the gas pipeline that Russia is planning and West wants to stop Russia from connecting its other pipelines with Syrian one and gain more foothold on European market. WILD WILD theories??

Then there is a logic of Arab Spring which is further connected to Wesley Clarke's revelation that 7 countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Lebenan and Yemen (I may be wrong on one or two of them) were marked for regime change after 9-11 attack happened. Another logic is US-West, wants to get rid of socialistic dictatorship in ME and then Russia and China and wanted to make Iraq a model state of successful western flavor democracy. Guess that initiative failed badly and now Iraq is in full control of Iran and nowhere near a democracy.

So because he is religious he wants war and is a freak. That's a great way to measure a persons worth.

war is already taking place. many prophecies have already been validated. Those who truly believe it would not be trying to behave so badly in the eyes of God. They would fear repercussions for not treading lightly and would be upholding the words of Christ. Christians who crusade by means of war are just using Christianity as a guise and view themselves as God. This is exactly what the Beast is... and the devil is what they worship whether they know it or not. They solve problems by intimidation and aggression when they above all have the choice not to.

I am not totally vouching for Putin...I'm having an open mind about Putin.

I AM vouching for the reality of biblical prophecy unfolding.

I DO believe the devil is real and that we must all resist the devil in all that we do on a continuous basis but most think it is simply natural to subscribe the the values of the beast and that is connected to cut throat survival of the fittest and behaving like a bunch of animals. There is a reason it is called the beast. It is every bad quality of what we are without our morality and resistance to the vicious laws of the beast of the field... rolled into a superpower...an empire.

It is immersed in the weaknesses of the flesh and fueled by fear.

Our progression lies in patience, conscience and reason... not knee jerk reactions that believe only in the gullible nature of it's audience... it's prey.

No wild theory.

I would have to provide a lot of links and reading material here. That is for another thread.

I have already told you earlier that there was a rift between the West and USSR after WWII; not before. It happened as USSR became stronger militarily and emerged as a rival power.

Read my conversations with you on other threads, if you care.

You are right that war is already taking place. Some people forget that fact, as they still have jobs, and still eating good food.

This is worth a read:

www.debka.com... srael-and-car-bombings-in-Lebanon-

Please note that Israel is in a constant state of war, and disinformation is a strong tool used in war. We cannot say how much of this information is true.

But if true, that Syria has relocated its chemical weapons to three "known" locations, then obviously question is why these weapons have not been attacked. There have been two separate attacks from Israel in recent times. These arsenals should also be a legitimate target for USA who should have destroyed the arsenal long back.

We know that Assad's intentions are bad; but what about US's intentions. Did US do anything to save the civilians from this attack?

Yep... for many total destruction, annihilation, the end... It's already come and gone.

Those who are with God who have seen the end....and in spirit observe the unfolding know before us of what is to come.

How much destruction needs to take place before it's all done. We know more is to come and don't have any need to fuel what is already started. It's already here... it's already rooted deep and we already see the horror.
To think those who believe it need to fuel it is thinking they feel the need to push the back of a speeding freight train. It's those who DON'T believe it who try to mock it... try to emulate it. They are just acting it out for the sake of their own mislead flock,

Those who ignore it completely just think it is a mythological thing or of another distant age.

For some, there is no reaching for signs... they are an inescapable reality.

In my opinion they helped create a situation for the attack. By arming the opposition the US created a more difficult situation for Assad to oust them. Not that Assad was right but we should never have sent anything over there - nothing. I keep saying it but its a cultural thing. He thinks its his duty to make his country secure and safe from takeover from al Qaeda. He will do everything in his power to not lose this country. By strengthening the opponent we created a situation of pulling out all the stops. This is assuming he let off those weapons. What business do we have picking sides and choosing the side of someone who killed thousands of our own citizens (whether a direct lineage or not to Osama bin Laden). Assad is just pushing back harder is all. He is a thug but so are those of Al Qaeda.
