You may not be far off. It has been brought up twice lately to separate food stamps from the farm bill. I haven't read if this passed or not though. What I had read on conservative news sites ( which is perhaps fear mongering. I don't know for sure ) is once separated congress could take food stamps out or cut them back without affecting farmers.
I don't see October 1 being anything personally. That is just district 3 having alot of things sent to it. Just because they arrive that day doesn't mean that's when it happens. If the gov is planning something they will concentrate on getting things prepared after they arrive. Sometime in November would be my guess. BUT I think only concentrating on one district would be a horrible idea. Affecting one region at a risk of being exposed would have the rest of America turning on them fast. Lets remember how quickly the questions arose about sandy hooks.

Two things came to my attention today.

One, a family member of mine witnessed an Emergency Broadcast System alert in the last couple of days stating that there would be daily alerts from September 25th - October 2nd. Except this wasn't in the FEMA III region, but the heart of the midwest.

Second, you have to wonder why on earth Janet Napolitano would say this in her resignation speech on August 27th...

TALK...TALK...TALK...I say bring it on already, we didn't buy all these guns and ammo, got barrels of seeds, flour grinder, bags of staples, cans upon cans of stocked food,rows upon rows of preserves, put up a green house planted a huge garden collected hierloom seeds from said garden, raising rabbits for food and pelts, have chickens for eggs and a good ol milk cow and a few calves for butcher...moved to Montana to help my family in all this prepping stuff, I feel like a freaking Morman...So yeah, bring it on already cuz I am pooped out...

Even though October 1 2013 would be THE DATE to watch, I think preliminary, unprecedented world-changing events would probably happen between September 8 to September 15 2013......

They will just ignore this failure and move onto the next "prediction". Just like they have for every previous prediction failure - Y2K, 2012 etc. etc.

The only thing that the "FEMA Emergency Zone III" prediction has in common with the government shutdown is the date, and it didn't take the Amazing Kreskin to figure that the government would shut down once the Republicans in the House took a hard line on Obamacare.

Ok, it's Oct. 1st, and I marked the date on my calendar according to the OP's instructions. Now what?

1. It is not really that crazy that the Govt shutdown:

2. The tinfoil FEMA is coming to get me group wanted to take the fact that purchases were made going into the end of the fiscal year (yesterday) as a sign of impending doom vs the fact that any big business with a fiscal year goes through the exact same thing.
