I've been saying and dreading your worry for a couple of years now. I think it will happen.

Going to war in Syria makes very little tactical or strategic sense.

Unless the goal is collapse the economies and infrastructure throughout the region. That at least makes strategic sense.

But this isn’t post-WW2 and the regions culture is a whole lot different than Japan or Germany. The Marshall Doctrine will not work there.

The US wants to attack Iran because of their (supposed) nuclear bomb program. Actually, it is because Iran does not exclusively use the petrodollar for it's oil sales. Iraq and Libya also accepted other currencies for oil and look what happened. But the nuclear program excuse is not building support needed to attack.

So now the US wants to attack Syria to draw Iran into a war because they are allies and have mutual defense treaties. So the US supports the anti Assad forces and uses the gas attacks as an excuse to attack.

But Russia is involved because of their ties with Iran and Syria. This makes the situation extremely dangerous. An accident could touch off an even bigger conflict.
