Alexander died aged 32 or 33, according to some authorities, and for 700 years his corpse lay entombed in the Egyptian city of Alexandria, which he founded. Yet, by the 4th century AD it had vanished.
Mr Chugg, the author of several books on Alexander, believes the confusion occurred when the warrior's body was disguised as St Mark to protect it from destruction during a Christian uprising.

"It's a strong possibility that somebody in the Church hierarchy, perhaps even the Patriarch himself, decided it might be a good plan to pretend the remains of Alexander were those of St Mark.
"If this is true, then it was Alexander's remains - not those of St Mark - that were stolen by Venetian merchants and taken back to their native city some four centuries later." In fact, three early Christian sources state that St Mark's body was burnt after his death.

Something extra.. In my country we mostly believe its Roxanes tomb... Roxan (I dont know how you spell it in English, her name) Ρωξαννη.

Our fear is not the looting... Even in my island after a rain, if you take a walk in a mountain (as an example) you may find ancient coins from bc age! with the cross of Zeus and little dolphins carvings on them - they are black though... We care about our history. Its illegal to loot things and move them out from the country or sell them, but if you go for a walk (NOT in ancient temples or museums) and u find 1 coin, its not ur fault.. but again its illegal to transfer it and sell it. Actually for his time and age, Alexander, while not being a push over, was certainly not as blood thirsty as many who followed. Genghis Khan reminds me of present day Anonymous and their catchy little saying. Only for him it was not enough to just say. He had a major vendetta against just about everyone and there was no mercy. The empire he created has never been matched.. On the other hand if a city surrendered to Alexander and pledged allegiance he spared the city and people to include their rulers many times.

Alexander with as little as 1/3 the fighting force of those he fought against prevailed and that is one of the reasons he had the moniker of Alexander The Great.

I never understood the blood thirsty reputation some people seem to ascribe to him. He was a pioneer way ahead of his time in regards to how he governed newly conquered territory and allowing the previous rulers to essentially stay intact to govern those territories as well as welcoming their troops into his own army. He knew long before most that you get more done by offering sugar and honey as opposed to vinegar and the whip. Any other major military campaigns before and after would have executed everyone they could to prove their dominance whereas Alexander realized that those already in place would garner better cooperation from the new subjects and make a much smoother transition in power. To me, he was more of a curious world explorer heavily influenced by his teachers and their philosophies. And as you pointed out, at least prior to India, he was able to do so rather easily and with a significantly smaller expeditionary force.

Then the archeologists with carefully destroy the wall that protects the main chamber, be able to get into the dead body, collect tissues, bones samples and all the rest...

There is some fears that the tomb is looted by fanatic muslims or frangos or romans during dark age. We will know in a few days.

The reason they believe that, the sphinx statues have their heads and wings cut off. But the lions are untouched.

The archeologists, added some special cameras in the walls and they found that the main tomb (chamber), may be untouched. Because they cant find any kind of destructions in that champer. They also saw some glorious throne or something... items. Also the analysis sawed that the main tomb is 3 rooms.

Lets not forget that the germanoid tribes attacked several times and robbed/slattered greek villages during great Alexander age - while Great Alexander was in Mid East. So he had many enemies.

There is some ancient books, claiming that the graves of Alexander and Roxanne, was camouflaged/hidden for these purposes, to avoid destruction, looters and the enemies of Alexandros/Roxanne, not to destroy the bodies. That is why they dont know which is what!

I think you thinking of Philip the II, III was a son of King Philip II of Macedonia by Philinna of Larissa and a half-brother of Alexander the Great. My speculation was wrong anyway!

I have just read they have no found skeletal remains in a hidden wooden coffin under the third chamber

Brits robbed the tomb 100 years ago and nobody knows if they changed the bodies as well. DNA tests will give the answer.
