The government should be net neutral neither running surplus's or deficits.

So you disagree with the budget policies of every president we've ever had?

As for Xuenchen, when does congress not chop and channel a presidents budget once he submits it?

No it hasn't how many times does this have to be said ?

Government spends more money than it takes in, and each year this consistently increased.

Perhaps some when both Chambers and the Executive Branch have similar agendas.

Like maybe how to create a mini economic boom like we saw from 2004 thru 2007.
Democrats took control of Congress in Jan 2007. The rest is history !!

Not a single president has made a budget you approve of?! I find that difficult to believe. Have you ever thought of moving to a different country that more fits your fiscal needs?

As far as government not spending like we do. I haven't heard of anyone going to jail for having a credit card, house payment or other such debt. It's not like we're not paying for our debt.

No mention of going from surplus to deficit under the GOP congress with a different president? Are you going to tell me that congress magically had a change of heart midway through the decade, started spending less and then the big, bad democrats came and ruined everything?

You're pulling some really selective thinking. The GOP isn't great and you would do well to recognize that.

What good is making budgets ?

They never adhere to them.

So don't find it too hard to believe.

Every single one has spent more money than they 'budgeted' for.

well well...

just a ploy to take cheap shots at the Republicans..

and placate the ignorant masses..

of course there's not an urgent deficit crisis...

when you can create money out of thin air...

raise the debt ceiling..

then charge the people principle & interest

for the privilege of using it..

What good is making budgets ?

Because, they have to appear to be running a legitimate government.

Budgets only tend to mean anything to the sub divisions of federal and state government. When the executive branch has the power to practically create money out of thin air, why would they even care?

He couldn't wait to spend more money and you're right. Obama signed the budget. Congress passed it .....and sadly, it was the last budget passed, as such, in this nation.

It would be REAL nice to have another budget some day, wouldn't it? Living on spending bills and the other assortment of little games they've played since 2009, so there are no firm lines for anyone to have to color INSIDE of for spending, is getting real bad for us.

Obama will never ever submit a genuine budget that would pass Congress.

Congress has always rejected His 'proposals'.

Obama's 'proposals' are not passable by design on purpose.

God forbid He and the Democrats would ever ever take any responsibility for their own ideas failures !!

Then show me the source of this information.

I showed you the source that showed the budget deficit falling year after year under Obama...where is your proof that they have consistently increased under Obama?

As much as I really hate to admit it, because I disliked him as a man, Bill Clinton ran annual surpluses for multiple years and the last one, Bush inherited. Not quite every President has been economic incompetents. Just most of them.

Wait, so even though the geopolitical landscape is constantly changing and our technology keeps advancing ... we should still have the exact same federal government we had under Lincoln? Can that even work in a global economy these days? I'd be nice, but I think just like the seasons....everything changes.

Democrats took control of all committees starting in Jan 2007.

Look what happened after that.

Facts and Figures speak for themselves.

Can you show us any that support your theories ?

Your chart includes 2009 under Obama, and that is not correct.

The 2009 budget and spending was all appropriated under Bush.

Wrong ...

the FY2009 budget was passed by the Democratic Congress and not signed by Bush.

Obama signed that in March 2009.

Look it up.

The budget signed in March 2009 is for Fiscal Year 2010, which is October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2010. So yes, Fiscal Year 2009 is still under Bush.

Fiscal years do not follow calendar years, here is some information about it.

useconomy.about.com...

Wrong AGAIN !!!

The United States federal budget for fiscal year 2009 began as a spending request submitted by President George W. Bush to the 110th Congress.

The final resolution was approved by the House on June 5, 2008.

The final spending bills for the budget were not signed into law until March 11, 2009 by President Barack Obama, nearly five and a half months after the fiscal year began.

FY2009

Bush refused to sign it !!

"FINAL SPENDING BILLS"

Not the entire budget.

It's right there in the text you quoted...the budget is Bush's budget...in any year additional needs come up and the current President needs to approve those. The LAST spending bill for FY2009 (which ends in September 2009) were signed by Obama in March. He was sworn in on January...so he had from January to March to sign spending bills...the rest was all Bush.

The reading comprehension and understanding of basic budget knowledge is very lacking in this thread.

When has anyone said anything different? Obama DECREASED the deficits every year he has been in office...no one ever said he eliminated them.

Do you understand that?

There were no 'Clinton surplus's'.

Yeah things change.

Government keeps screwing us over.

Globalist push their agenda is why millions of Americans are out of work who are not geting paid by tax revenue instead of paying it.

That advancement needs to end that creates debt and deficits.
