There is a thread about the stability of the ground under Fukushima and I have posted this link there but this is more about the amounts of water being stored and leaking into the ground under/around the Nuclear plant.

www.bbc.co.uk...

"It is leaking out from the basements, it is leaking out from the cracks all over the placeā€

Mycle Schneider Nuclear consultant"

This is in addition to the leaking storage tanks and by the looks of things they are going to run out of storage space, part of the graphic shows the growth of these storage tanks over the past few years.

There is a good graphic explaining what is happening.

sounds like they skimped on providing an adequate containment structure...

the 'pan' or containment body needed to be maybe 5 feet thick of reinforced concrete...
so that cracks would not let water intrude and then excape from the radioactive eactors and storage fuel rods...
the whole unit was meant to be an impregnable containment structure--- but not at the money necessary to avert this present situation.... either the Engineers or the Executives are responsible

i say the whole opertaion is a criminal enterprise...cutting corners to minimize expenses ---then claiming the 'Profits' for their bonus money

If the guilty won't commit Hari-Kari... then have the USA deport the guilty to Gitmo,,, the terrorist spa resort

Drip, drip, it certainly looks like the enormity of this event is slowly being recognised, what will happen is anyones guess.

I looked today and found nothing new, no miraculous cures, nor much concern.

Not sure that TEPCO will gain much in this, and suspect that a lot of the current problems are related not so much to saving money, (Nbody these days over spends.) but more a rushed attempt at solving a problem nobody had any experiences of.

Probably a shame that the Japanese did not ask for outside input at the time, pride can be a devilish attribute.

Maybe now, with the admissions from the Japanese Government and some comments from Japanese living and working outside of Japan, TEPCO/Japanese people will ask for that help, but it might now be a little late and we will all have to accept any changes that this disaster might bring.
