Top 35 inspirational movies
www.imdb.com...

'Big Fish' and 'City of God' are for sure must see movies. Inspirational movies are few and far between, yet you can still take what you care to see in any movie and call it inspirational.

Most movies coming out in 2013 are inspiring because its mostly anti-USA propaganda disquised by some fruity Hollywood storyline. Movies like "White House Down", "G.I Joe Retaliation", "Olympus has Fallen".... all movies in which the white house is destroyed or taken over by terrorists. Even Iron Man 3 has tons of Anti-USA propaganda. I mean cmon they called Brad Pitts movie: World War Z. Is that not blatant enough for you??

Anti USA is noble these days only because of things like CIA working with Al Qaeda, FEMA Camps, mainstream media, gun rights and the national deficit( 'Olympus has fallen').

Cloud Atlas is a good movie with great acting, it had anti oppression theme through out movie.

Movies where I can recall crying at the end (despite my best attempts to hide it) were The Mission, A.I. and The Killing Fields.

I'm not sure they changed my life.

I recall E.T. made entire movie houses of kids cry, and there was also a movie called Baby or something, about a dinosaur in the Congo that was a sad creature-feature of the 1980s.

As for a movie that still inspires me, I'd say it was Philadelphia.

Seeing it a long time ago, it just made me feel immense sympathy with AIDS victims.
But since becoming HIV-positive I see it differently.
Although it was criticized by AIDS activists at the time, I now also see it as going back in time to when HIV/AIDS was totally stigmatized, and the brave work that people did before my generation, and how difficult it must have been, and how grateful we should be.

One of my favorite inspirational movies is "The Nun's Story" with Audrey Hepburn. She plays a woman who wants to become a nurse of tropical medicine in the Belgian Congo. She becomes a Catholic nun and goes through the training but it is a long arduous road to her career goals. Eventually World War II comes and she returns to Belgium where she works in a hospital but secretly helps the Belgian Underground against orders from the pope. The movie is really about finding your place in the world and how you must think for yourself and follow your own conscience. It is based on a real person.
Also, I love the movie "Contact" with Jodie Foster where she plays an astronomy researcher who finds a signal from another planet that sends plans to build a machine. I can't go too far into detail because it would be giving away what happens. It is another story about a woman struggling to achieve her career goals and how she must follow what her conscience tells her rather than what others pressure her to do and say and be. It also has a beautiful love story between Jodie and a famous theologian, played by Matthew McConahey. The cinematography is really amazing. Based on a novel written by Carl Sagan.
I like "Tombstone" with Val Kilmer and Kurt Russell because it is really a story about friendship and loyalty. Has beautiful costumes also.

The Keys of the Kingdom is one of my favorite movies of all time.

I watched it again not too long ago on YouTube. It stars Gregory Peck and is a great story of a life of service to humanity. All the twists and turns and ironies of such a life, lived by a pure heart, are told.
