Gibraltar: Spanish Boats In Royal Navy Stand-Off

Spanish fishermen have been involved in a stand-off with Royal Navy boats after making an illegal incursion into British waters around Gibraltar. A flotilla of more than 30 fishing boats was "corralled" by UK military and police vessels after protesting near the spot where Gibraltar's government placed 70 concrete blocks in disputed waters next to the British territory. The demonstration comes 24 hours before the Royal Navy warship HMS Westminster is due to arrive in Gibraltar in a visit described by the Ministry of Defence as "long-planned". Gibraltar says it has created the concrete artificial reef there to protect local fish stocks from trawling, but Madrid says it restricts their right to fish.

So therefore it should remain British.

If spain want to try anything then they need to be reminded what happens to there fleets in that area

"they shall not cleave one to another", no truer word have been spoken when it comes to Europe and its so called union. Even though they have tried several times in the past, it will still hold true for the current EU. Case and point;

Doesn't look like much of a union or helping each other from the looks of it.If they were wanting to actually work together in this regard, they would enact regulations regarding fishing in member states waters, type of fishing allowed and quotas. With policing of the fleets to ensure compliance.

Doesn't seem like that is the case at all but then again I could be wrong.
