Me and my fiance tend to play a lot of board games ( yes we are pretty geeky )

Board games we currently have / are playing at the moment -
Pandemic ( good fun )
Twilight struggle ( not the vampire crap! its about the cold war )
Hero Quest
Risk
Trivial Pursuit 'genius edition' ( im crap at it )

and we are waiting for 'war of the ring' to arrive in the post.

anyway we are always on the look out for new games to try, so I was wondering does anyone have any good 2 player board game recommendations?

We play Backgammon when we are on a plane or waiting in an airport. We have a travel size that's magnetic so the pieces don't move.
It's surprisingly complex.
s&f because we want to see recommendations also.

I love board games.

If I may suggest the game Elder Sign by Fantasy Flight.

Its not a game you really play against each other but against the game itself. I'm not sure if you are a fan of Lovecraft but if you are this is a great one.

Wow, you are lucky! That sounds amazing.

You could try some different card games using playing cards, like Rummy, for example, or start practicing Chess and / or Go.

In addition, Backgammon, Settlers of Catan (although I think it is probably for more than two players),

Civilization: The Board Game, and Axis and Allies are super amazing and complex strategy war games that can be played with only two players, and Scrabble is also fun.

Thanks, those strategy war games sound cool I will have a look for some vids of them, 'Twilight struggle' is like that, set during the cold war era and its pretty intense, we really enjoy it, so those could be just down our street,

Without a doubt my ALL time favourite game.

I was going to say HeroQuest myself, until I did a double take on your original post. Another one you may want to try is Dark World. I bought it last month on eBay for £10 which was a bargain in my opinion. Looked like it had never been played with!

Only downside is its pretty limited. But good enough to pass an hour or so.

If you liked HeroQuest though, I have a quest for you which I designed. You may need some of the expansions for it to work but it is pretty intense. Thinking of putting it on eBay for those looking for some replay value

The Generals

It is out of print but it was an electronic version of Stratego but the board computer determined the higher rank and winner without revealing to the other player what the winning (higher) rank was.

Here is just one listing on ebay (not mine) and several online out of print game stores have copies of it as well.

The Generals

gimme gimme gimme lol
We could definitely use more quests! I made a few quests myself but feel like they are lacking somewhat lol, id love to get some new ones

An yeah you should put them on ebay id say they would sell easily enough.
I will have a look for 'Dark World' also thanks
