That means Call of Duty has been played for a total of 2.85 million years, which is longer than "the entirety of human existence".

www.computerandvideogames.com...

A truly shocking statistic. I have played my fair share of COD in the past but come on.
My friend plays every night 9pm till 12am, I mean seriously people only go to church once a week.

I think if mankind put as much effort into solving our real problems then there could be some real progress.

It would seem that pretending to kill people holds much power over mankind.
Thoughts?

see that's the thing, as much as i love video games, they are nothing more than a way to distract us from the bigger picture. It distracts our will to explore, to tinker, to create.

Sadly I am part of this statistic but I only kill zombies!!

In fact I can have a 6 hour session playing zombies and was plagued by this behavior for a few years. After I reached level 52 on the last zombie map pack I decided to retire the game. Nothing good will come from my continuous support.

Not so hard to believe...and why the hell would I want to solve your problems anyway?

I once spent 36 hours straight shooting down axis airplanes because it was fun, not because we have issues!

Oh wait...

I've played quite a bit. I just look at the zombie game as training if that does ever happen so its not a total waste. Here's a video to put some more things into perspective.

Im not asking you to solve my problems, my point was more to the point of, imagine how much we could solve if we put the same hours into that, but for the rest of your post...

lol, i love it.

Played CoDs as well... i personally think its one of the overrated games out there.. so simple an 8 yr old can master it to certain degree.(i tested it with my nephew online, he was 7-8th place out of 24 people)

The developers know it is famous among younger group, so they pretty much stop trying to better.. most of their game is rehashing same crap over and over again, while games like Battlefield, which has strategy and improve each year, should deserve more credits but it gets pushed back.

My Son plays. Ive watch him play. Its a video game. It beats children going out and finding other things to do, such as crime, drugs, gangs etc........ I see nothing wrong with it, if its done in moderation.

lol I played both(im more of a fighter/RPG than FPS), in fact i have more CoD,(because they make much more games than Battlefield). The truth is CoD do not care for criticism, because their franchise would be bought regadless, thus they do not try to make it better.

This is just a way to relax like anything else...When the other half is bitching about how long you play or when you play with a glass of wine in her hand all things become relative

It bug's me when people say video games are made to distract us from the bigger picture.NO its like anything else in the world if people want something and there is ££££ to be made and lots of it in this case it gets made.

2.850.000 Years sound a lot
But do realize we humans together live
6.700.000.000 years a year.

I told myself the same thing last week when they told us about the new and final map pack.I only play zombies too, I've never played the story mode to any cod game just love zombies and when the dlc 4 come's out on 27th that's it for me too. I mean i liked the story to zombies but as its got more popular you can tell it's going a bit like lost let's say....

Thats why I invest my video game time into 25 man raiding in World of Warcraft.

COD is mindless killing... ZERG and kill kill kill

In WoW my guild meets up 3 nights a week to compete for epeen status for server first kills.

Its no different than a softball team or a bowling team...

We figure out strategys to get the kills, play with group compositions and have friendly competition against other guilds on the server to get that REALM FIRST kill.

Social skills are pretty important in life. You dont get those if you aint out socialising.

But yes I agree everything in moderation cant be bad.
