Iraqi mosques are being used as command and control centers, as wepon depots, and as hideouts for terrorists. But why can they get weapons in in the first place?
Why aren't thier US soldiers stationed in and patrolling outside of every mosque in Iraq?
For one it would stop terrorists from bringing weapons into the and using them as strongholds.
For another if presented properly (IE as n attempt to safeguard the Iraqi Peoples right to worship) It could alleviate much of the sentiments that Coaoltion forces are anti-islamic.
So why aren't we doing it?

for one thing there are probably thousands of mosques which would cut into man power which is probably needed elsewhere. also the vunerability while stationed at a prime insurgant directive would appear to some as suicidal. i would think that mosques are only the main point of insurgant coordination when it is convienent, im sure its not their main goal to create a mosque/military command post. if our guys patroled mosques, then the insurgance would move operations to somewhere clear, the wonders of atrition.

If the enemy wish to concentrate themselves in highly visible and easily located structures, I'm not sure we should discourage them.

Frankly, it seems rather convenient, and I imagine our commanders hope they continue to do what they have been doing.

In war, predictability is the greatest liability.

Also, what makes you so sure the mosques aren't being monitored? Coalition troops aren't needed for that -- there are plenty of Iraqis happy to take the job in exchange for cash.

Why deploy troops when a 500lb bomb will do? In light of all the complaining about airstrikes, Coalition forces must be using them quite liberally.

we could put a guard on every house too.....No we couldnt ...see the point.

Some people on both sides seem to have unrealistic expectations.

Like the one that every cop ad soldier should be able to shoot to wound to disable. Only a rare few come close to that skill, and most situations dont allow for it.

Try telling the media though. Then the people who beleive it.
