I fail to see how that's a recent trend, considering the number of Spanish-speaking people named Jesus.

As for the OP this is also nothing new. I can remember being in church during the Bush administration and being led in prayers for Bush. Not just for God to guide him but also for Bush to win re-election.

Personally I think prayer to anything, be it a god or a human politician, is pretty much pointless. It is surprising to see this though, with all the anti-Obama opinions I come in contact with in the area I live in I sometimes forget there are people just as irrational on the other side of the spectrum. Politics is such a joke and yet some people continue to eat it up, sad.
