They always exaggerate features on masks.

Exactly......
What are they going to do next, go after the maker of the mask???

This is just totally insane and has gotten way out of hand.

As much serious stuff that is going on in this world and some dude in the grand stands thought this was bad.
Get a life man and take a look around you.

Egypt is in turmoil.
The economy is in the tank.

And now we have to worry about clowns........that's sad.

Oh, I forgot-- never underestimate the power of those "flaming liberals." One of them can single-handedly ignite a media frenzy.

Yep, that's pretty much what happened. A guy I went to high school with posted this on his Facebook page first and then on to Daily Kos, some "Progressive" website and contacted some of his friends in media to spread the word. By Monday night he was on MSNBC.

If you'll notice, his name is the ONLY name that comes up in any of the articles as being an offended participant at the fair and is the only one that's quoted.

Look, I support free speech as much as anyone. I think anyone, should be able to say anything they want, about any president, or public official, or whomever-- as long as it's not threatening, etc. However, I think "certain types" of people have latched on to this story, because it gives them yet another chance to get all partisan and talk about those "evil liberals" and those "commie socialist democrats" and how they're trying to get rid of free speech, and make all your children bow down to Liberal Lord Obama.

I latched onto this story for three reasons. First, I live here. Second, I personally know the attention seeker involved and am very familiar with his lifestyle and his politics. Third, I've had it UP TO HERE with all of the race baiting going on in this country and especially outraged when Governors, Lt. Governors, Senators and every Rep play into it.

But in your desire to have a knee-jerk overly-emotional reaction, and your desire be good little neocons and trash those "evil liberals" any chance you get, I think you're ignoring some pretty important factors in this scenario.

1- While people have the freedom of speech, as they should, very few people have "freedom of speech" at their WORKPLACE.

Guess, what? The rodeo clown's workplace just happened to be a bull ring where his job is to joke and entertain the crowd. If you were a rodeo clown and you had to come up with a very unpopular figure to use as a target to distract a bull, while entertaining your crowd, who would you have picked? In Missouri, absolutely no one is more unpopular than Obama (just to give you some inside scoop).

You're all blowing this out of proportion and looking at it from the wrong angle.

But I understand you need any excuse to have a knee-jerk emotional reaction, trash obama, and further alienate and divide your countrymen by talking smack about those "evil commie liberals."

My knee jerk reaction is to the jerk I know who called this a racist event and drew national attention to it when it wasn't.

I don't even care if they want to call it "disrespectful".
I don't care if they want to ban the clown from the rest of this year's show.
I don't care if a joke is never told again at a rodeo event.

I do care that this was labeled as a "racist" act.
I do care that State Fair officials are requiring "Sensitivity Training" for ALL future rodeo acts.
I do care that someone felt the need to ban this clown for life from the State Fair.
I do care that every state official felt like they had to play into it.
I do care that Missouri State Reps are calling for the Governor to cancel his State Fair obligations.
I do care that the NAACP is asking for the DOJ and Secret Service to investigate and take action.

So, who do you REALLY think is blowing this out of proportion again?

This is a complete over-reaction. Jeesh! Waaaaay to PC man. Game of Thrones used a Bush head on a spike in their first season and no one blinked. Lame. Curious to see how this pans out.

Obama wore an Obama mask on SNL

politicalhumor.about.com...

He loves himself so much he can't stand the thought of being anyone else, but we already knew that.

Good point snarky, maybe the Obama administration can have them all confiscated.

He can turn his SNL mask in first.

I read the first four or five paragraphs when I thought it sounded a little too bizarre and then scrolled down to the bottom to see if it was indeed political satire, and it is. Was there something specific that you wanted to point out about the article?

Oh noo! You're absolutely right, I hadn't scrolled all the way down to see that segment.. normally the hagmann's don't fool around quite that far, so I took it for granted that the interview was actually authentic! Sorry about that! But thank you very much for noticing and pointing it out. I'll be more careful next time!

In answer to your question, I think you are blowing it out of proportion. But not just you-- pretty much everyone who's getting upset about this is-- including the guy you mention who brought this all to light in the first place. I agree that people need to earn to take a joke, doubly so when they're at an entertainment event like that.

However, that is not entirely relevant to my point. Even if it was just one moron who started it by being a whiner, that doesn't matter. Re-read my post and look at the examples I gave. That employee at McDonalds giving a political speech to everyone who orders a McDouble may only end up having one or two people complain. But even if one person complains because of an employee doing something outside of policy, they have to address the issue. That's how it works. Professionalism. The customer is always right, and all that crap....

Secondly, it does not matter that this was an entertainment event. If you'll more carefully re-read my post, you'll see I specifically addressed this as well. People in entertainment industries, unless specifically instructed to do so do not get to interject their own personal opinions or political commentary without the prior approval of their superiors. Entertainers have to follow rules too, or the people who run the show will shut them down. That's how it works.

And I find it funny and ironic that you say you're getting sick of the "race baiting" when people such as yourself are actually perpetuating the issue by turning every little thing (like this) into a race issue, when it isn't one. This is about one guy who over-stepped his bounds as an entertainer, and one guy who got upset about it and brought it to attention. Stop trying to make it into something it's not. This could have happened to anyone, in any industry, using their job as a vehicle to spread their political agenda without the prior approval of their superiors. Period.

I didn't turn this into a race issue. The liberal I mentioned earlier did. I'm merely showing my outrage at the fact that it was turned into a "racist" issue and now has been labeled by the NAACP as a "hate crime". There was no crime and nothing about the rodeo act was racist. The rodeo clown doesn't have a political agenda. He needed a target to distract his bull and being a resident of Missouri himself, knew that Obama was an unpopular figure and thought it would get a laugh (and guess what? It did from most.) It's obvious from your posts that you haven't even kept up on this story to be able to comment on it properly. Your McDonald's example, etc. has absolutely nothing to do with a rodeo clown comedy act, so your comparison's mean nothing here. By the way, this clown had been performing this act for four months prior to the State Fair. If the State Fair didn't like his act, they didn't have to hire him in the first place.

I just wanted to mention, Determined isn't the only one who sees this as ridiculous and about sick of whiny busy bodies getting into local issues that really never had business being national stories to start with. Calling it racial is absurd and if anyone should have been tagged, it is the announcer. Although he had poor taste, nothing that offensive given the fact this happened in a state that HATES this President as a general rule. Texas feels stronger, but not by much I think.

Now your approach to "Professionalism" tells me your times attending a Midwestern Rodeo are about -0. This isn't a broadway show with silly little unions running around with little rule books to let everyone know precisely what to do, how to go about it and what isn't proper. It's a pretty casual event within the general guides of safety and order to things all happening smoothly.

In that sense, Bush masks have been worn in Rodeo Rings and so have Hillary masks. Was the Hillary one a gender attack? Heck no...Some people just really don't LIKE her. Just like many REALLY don't like Obama. Personally. As a man. Not as a Half Black/Half White man. As a human being with crappy policies, little experience and an ego it takes a staff to transport.

When asked about the Egypt situation and what he might be planning to do about it, Obama had kind of a bizarre statement. Obama said he " might try to lasso Mohammed Mursi , but be ready to jump into a barrel if he charges at me."
Maybe we do have a rodeo clown as POTUS?
