Israel's Supreme Court has ruled that water fluoridation in the country must end by 2014, according to news reports. This landmark decision goes even further than legislation by the health minister Yael German earlier in the year that would have ended mandatory fluoridation nationwide, reports the Irish publication Hot Press.

In one of the greatest cases, the Dental Association backed by the Ministry of Health matched wits against Izun Hozer Association for Dissemination of Health Education and Yaacov Gurman. They used Dr. Declan Waugh's PowerPoint which is based on scientific data from studies which show fluoride's lack of efficacy. Israel was one of the few countries (around 6 including the US) which has mandatory fluoridation of over 50 percent of the populace. This will provide strong support for Ireland and other areas fighting to cancel fluoridation.

"Fluoridation is an outdated, unscientific, failed public health blunder," says Connett. "What I find remarkable here is that Health Minister German has been able to escape the unscientific belief system on fluoridation that traps so many public health bureaucracies in fluoridated countries."

Good for them.....now hopefully the rest of the countries that still do will take this into account and stop flouridating their water soon as well.

Though I don't believe that will happen in the USA andytime soon.

There was never any real evidence to show that adding fluoride in water that already contained trace amounts was good for the teeth. If there was very little fluoride in the water naturally, it was a different story. The biggest thing is that most people get fluoride in an organic form from consuming certain beverages. If a person wants fluoride, use fluoridated toothpaste, that is their right. Forcing fluoride on someone who gets fluoride from coffee or tea is stupid.

Now the US will probably say the people in Isreal are nuts. I know that most countries that have investigated the effects of fluoride on their own with open minds have taken it out of their water.

S&F for bringing it to my attention, it is good to see that Israel is taking care of it's people.

I would think they would be more concerned about how irradiated their water supply is, but whatever.

What people fail to realize is that it is in your hands. If you don't want fluoride in your water supply, vote. It's not hard.

PS- People also really fearmonger when it comes to fluoride as well, which is understandable because they don't understand it at all. Did you know that the majority of water supplies have arsenic in them, as well as other heavy metals and harmful elements that could kill you if taken in large doses? Did you know salt will kill you if you eat too much? Fluoride is no different.

Excellent point..and correct.. It was chicken feed that had arsenic as well, finally stopped by the FDA this year.. At least they have started to close the Coal plants... which were the largest mercury purveyors... behind our friends at the ADA...

Even in raw untreated water the levels can be quite high. Which is what the "Harvard study" (actually chinese) ,cited by most people against fluoridation, was actually about.

For instance, in my town, the Iron in the raw water is around 3.4 mg/l. After treatment, it comes down to .03 mg/l. The arsenic is higher then is allowed too in the raw, as well, we have H2S gas in the raw water.

Treatment takes all this out (or down to acceptable levels) and then adds back (via chemicals or mixing) what the water needs to make it pH neutral, palatable, clear, and organism free.

Some countries prefer to fluoridate their table salt instead of their water. Is the water quality in Israel declining and the people turning more to bottled water so that adding it to salt is a more effective way of distributing it? Just a thought. Many European countries as well as South American countries have fluoridated salt. Some countries such as Colombia and Costa Rica mandate that all salt produced and distributed there MUST be fluoridated.

Perhaps by removing fluoride from the water, which could be considered wasteful if that worthless poisonous crap is just being flushed and ran down the drain, it is being more effectively distributed by adding it to salt and the government can give the appearance of acting in the peoples' best welfare.

In the meantime, I am more apt to believe this...

In 1952, American fluoridation opponent Charles Perkins published The Truth about Water Fluoridation, a 44 page treatise on the evils of water fluoridation. In this book he makes the claim, with no supporting evidence, that, “Mass medication, involving fluoridation of public water systems, has long been known as an important technique of the Communist philosophy of mass control,” and that it “was taken to England by the English-born Russian Communist Kreminoff in 1935.” When later asked for clarification and documentation on this claim, Perkins responded with a letter in 1954 that simply added a new layer of complexity.
