Just because Russia might have plenty of aircraft it doesn't mean that they are a match for the US. The US has more advanced radars, avionics, and
better training. Not too mention our aircraft are probably in better condition.

France............46.5 bil (I didn't think they spent more than the United Kingdom)
Canada 7.8 bilion what a joke(coming from Canada I'm ashamed of what our goverment spends on our military,we are the 2nd largest Country in the world

Lets just say, since the US defense budget is 7 times more than China, the US military should be 7 times better than China, right? Well, it isn't. It
is at best only 2 times better than China, and if the Chinese decided to spend that much on their military, XXJ would be entering service now instead
of J-10, but they decided to invest in their economy and improve the lives of their citizens. A good move

The U.S spends now spends $68bil of it's defense budget on R&D. Then spends the rest on pay (recently increased), training, maintenance, rent,
utilities, munitions/ammo, etc.
By they way the real U.S defense budget is like $410bil, with extra added on for funding operation in Iraq and Afghanistan. And lets not forget China
spends $69 billion - $78 billion in 2001 dollars according to the RAND corp.

Just because we spend 7 times more doesn't mean we should be 7 times greater. Of that $400 billion, let's say that $25 billion goes to combat ops
for the war we're fighting, $75 billion goes to R&D, $125 billion goes to flight operations for the different services.... That's $225 billion right
there. And for the record, I just pulled those numbers out of the air, they are NOT actual numbers nor are they intended to be. But you get the
idea. Based on those numbers, that's over half of our budget right there for the year, and that's not even getting into paying the troops, and
buying weapons and ammunition, or maintenance costs.

The pay for the troops varies by rank and specialty and varies from service to service. There's not really a number you can put up and say "This is
how much we pay our troops." If you live off base, you get paid a little more to pay for your housing, if you're in a combat zone, you get paid more
for hazardous duty etc.
The total life cycle cost of a US CVN aircraft carrier in millions is approximately 22,222 or about $22 billion dollars. Most CVNs will be in service
for around 50 years however so that's a pretty good cost. The average ANNUAL cost for a CVN is approximately $444 million. That's as of 2000 so
it's probably changed since then.

I thought the money to pay for the war is separate from the annual budget. Like when the president goes to congress and asks for 80B or 100B to pay
for the wars that is separate form the annual budget.

I think it is. Like I said I was just pulling figures out of the air to make an example of why our budget is so much bigger than the rest of the
world.
