Well, in fact, our "fascist dictator" wrote an executive order to close Gitmo within a year. We see how powerful those scary executive orders can be now, don't we?

Woo hoo 6 years after the fact and 4 years after his party held all 3 branches ! ! ! !

No wait after he and his party held all 3 branches of government and it didn't rate anything.

Yeah Yeah those 'obstructionists'.

Have at least one original thought?

Great, more mis-information (the L-word, anyone?) on this thread. Do you even know what the three branches of the US government are? Clearly not. Conservatives/Republicans control the Supreme Court; they have ever since Bush I appointed Clarence Thomas to the seat vacated by Thurgood Marshall.

For his first two years as President, the Democrats did control both houses of congress, but they never held a 2/3rds majority, so the Republicans could -- and did on just about every issue they opposed -- filibuster the bill in the Senate. The Republicans also fought tooth and nail for the better part of the first year of Obama's administration to keep Al Franken from becoming the 60th Democratic senator, and about the time he was confirmed, Ted Kennedy died, and then the Republican governor of Mass. appointed Scott Brown as senator -- the same Scott Brown that went on to slander Elizabeth Warren over her native American ancestry during the following campaign for this seat. The Republicans played the filibuster card during this two year period in an unprecedented manner, which in effect annulled the Democratic control of the Senate.

To summarize: NO, the Democrats didn't control all three branches of the government, and effectively they didn't even have control of both houses of congress because of the way the Republicans filibustered and fought Al Franken's senatorship, and then installed a Republican to fill a vacated seat of a long-serving Democratic senator in a very blue state around the time Franken was sworn in, thereby still keeping the Democrats from a 60-seat majority that could over-rule the obstructionist Republican senate. Keep in mind also that the Republican Senate minority leader said early on in Obama's first term that his and the Republicans' main job was to make sure Obama didn't get re-elected. So governing the United States was not the state purpose of the Republicans, but rather it was to try to ensure that Obama, who just happened to be the first black US president, didn't get re-elected.

And I can only imagine that the basis of specious threads like this one and the harebrained, fear-mongering video that is the basis for this are also have something to do with the pigment of the president's skin. The conservatives and Republicans said a lot of nasty things about Clinton, but they never falsely accused him of becoming a dictator. So why do it with Obama? I think I provided the reason.

As I have said in any number of other comments in which I call shenanigans on specious claims against Obama, there is plenty to blame and/or Obama for, but the Obama haters generally never address these issues. They go after this harebrained memes and conspiracies that the right-wing propaganda industry throws them so they don't have spare time on their hands to look at actual issues on which the GOP establishment sides with Obama, or the fact that the GOP congress is doing nothing to help with the economic mess of this country.

Excuse me but do you know how many executive orders Dubya Bush signed? Answer: 291. In ONE term Bush SR signed 166. Obama has signed 162. Who is the dictator? As far as Obama's statement about people wanting him to bypass congress, I think its accurate, since head lice recently were found to be more popular than the congress in a study. We have a congress that is doing everything in its power to see this president fail. And the presidents job is to get the country back on its feet after 8 years of the Bush catastrophe.

You seem like a wonderful person, and genuinely interested in discussion. My political views are conservative and in voting I have (or had) been a republican. There are so many replies in this thread I am certain my small post will be overlooked but there are a few things I want to say, on the off chance that someone reads.

It is not Obama. It is not the Democrats. It is not the Republicans. It is ALL of them working in concert while you and every other American pays more attention to party lines and what they are 'saying'.

It matters not what they say... it is what is happening regardless of who. When the democrats do it the democrats are happy and when the republicans do it the republicans are happy but the same thing is being done by BOTH.

Little by little we are becoming a communist/socialist society... Each person in office builds on what the last guy in office did - this way they can point the finger and say it wasn't me or my party. But each one is expanding the policies of the last guy, happily.

And happily we are loosing our constitutional rights, one by one, and happily, the federal government is expanding and centralizing their control of all government, and happily the states are loosing their ability to run their states because of this...

Not now, but sooner or later we are going to hear those words which your thread title espoused... sooner or later if we don't wake up and stop it these will be the morning headlines. I have said for a while that it is less what Obama is doing that scares the hell out of me....

It's what the guy who's coming after him will do who frightens the hell out of me..... thats what I am afraid of, what is coming next. All of this is being set up for him...

and no one can see the forest through the trees

All this does is put some words to Obama's actions. Sure, he may not have said it like that, but his actions speak louder.

I fail to see the Treason.

Is it because he said that he is "Tempted" to bypass congress and make the laws on his own?

Just because someone says that they are "tempted" does Not constitute Treason by any stretch.

However, I can easily see that Far-Left Republicans put this video together. Do they have any clue that by doing so they have committed the Highest form of Treason. AND it is documented.

If you speak Against your Commander in Chief in such a manner, it is by Definition Treason.

So to sum things up. They have committed a Treasonous Act to assert a lie against the Command in Chief.

I am not personally happy about OUR choice of Leader, but, I also don’t go out of my way to perpetrate a fabrication by using documentation out of context.

It's not treason to speak ill of a sitting president. Being able to do so is part of living in a free society. Whereas the video did not demonstrate what it claims it did, Obama's rhetoric certainly suggests that he does not like being constrained by our checks and balances.

As much as I'm not a fan of the current administration, I do have to say that context does matter. The video wasn't edited to make him say something different, it was edited to leave out the context in which he said that. Most of those videos was about him pushing for Obamacare. And he was talking about how frustrating it was because his idea wasn't going his way in congress. He was just telling the crowds the obstacles he was facing during it.

I am concerned that "bypass congress" came out of his mouth, but I've seen this video or something similar and I've also seen the whole speeches, which explain why he said it each time. Just my two cents worth.

2 points to make about your revisionist history here....
1.) Deval Patrick (governor at that time) is a Democrat and
2.) Scott Brown was not appointed in the very least. There was actually a special election (I know, I voted for him in it) where he went up against at the time the current Attorney General for the state Martha Coakley. And he won fair and squarely. As far as blocking anything, they kept putting off Scott Brown's swearing in and fighting it, but eventually had to.

It's unfortunate that Scott Brown didn't remain on the national level the same he did on the local level though, he was good on the local level, but caved in to the national Republican B.S. once he went to Congress.

If we were in revolutionary times Obama may have a point. The reality is that America is far from revolutionary times. I see this statement by Obama of `Bypass Congress` is simply pandering to his support base of so-called progressive Americans who like the idea of someone saying exactly what needs to change in America without actually getting serious enough to do something. Obama has actually been Capitalist wet dream despite conservatives labeling Obama as a `socialist.` Obama serves Wall Street like a well trained US politician.

GOP and DNP are just two sides of the same side coin of control of US Capital.

I have to run right now, but the "OP" never claimed we were in a dictatorship, yet. Did you even read my first post or any other for all that matters? You may want to check out this post. Or maybe even this one. Oh here is another good one, right here. And you can't miss, this one. Oh another goodie if you click here. Yeah this one is one of my favorites, click this. I am serious please check out those posts.

And there is another post somewhere where I explain that we have been in a state of national emergency during Obama's entire presidency. This gives him extended powers. But yeah Bush did this also, so I guess this makes it right?

Did this headline catch your attention? Well it certainly caught mine. This title (not my own), pushes things a bit more than even I am willing to take. But the reason I am sharing this is because it reminds me of something our children may be watching in school some day. It was sort of a shocking wake up call, although a bit overly dramatic. You know sometimes folks kid about things they are serious about. But then again, did he say he was kidding? Yeah I know, overkill, but the point is valid.

Ya know if Obama was serious about "helping Americans", he would work on getting rid of corruption and bipartisanship instead of making up his own rules to "get around perceived obstacles". He wasn't the first president to get blocked by congress, and those protections although difficult at times, are there for a reason. Congress is there to represent the people so presidents can't decide what is good for us on their own. He needs to learn to work with them, not around them.

To summarize: NO, the Democrats didn't control all three branches of the government,

YES THEY DID!

Really expect people to be that stupid?

The 111th Congress Democratic majorities both house and senate and the Executive.

ETA:

And the country didn't like that too much which is why the Left got their butts handed to them in the House.

Giitmo didn't rate during the YES MAN of that congress for over 2 years

Gays didn't rate during that YES MAN congress

Illegals didn't rate during that YES MAN congress

Jobs didn't rate during that YES MAN Congress.

Bailing out unions, and forcing a corporate product was the only thing on their minds, and some people have the bloody nerve to cry about Republicans being obstructionist.

That is the biggest 'mis information' floating around .

Meh.

Many people are confused about the 111th Congress.

The Dems did in fact have the majority in Both Congressional Chambers, and control of all the Committees.

The wild confusion lies in the wild concept of the 'super-majority' in the Senate.

The Dems had a fluctuation with that.

They were hell-bent on getting it and that's why the Al Franken issue was so important. He wasn't officially 'installed' until July 2009. That's when the wild and insane Fibrillating, Palpitating, Foaming-at-the-Mouth, hyperventilating, Hyper Focusing, Ultra-Liberal Super Left Wing Fanatical Radicalisms really got started.

The Franken issue was the 'Minnesota Massacre vote recounts' .... the Mother of all Mothers.

The 2 'independents' apparently made the difference along with Al Franken.

57 Democrats
2 Independents, caucusing with Democrats
41 Republicans

111th Congress

but it was Bush's fault anyway

Blah blah blah.....my tyrant is better then your tyrant.

I understand where OP is trying to go with this thread, but essentially my first sentence sums things up nicely. Each president keeps on setting the groundwork for future puppets (presidents) to keep on taking your freedoms away.

and you keep on falling for it - I even admit I fall for this time and time again but I try not to.

WAKE UP!

You don't need to Mash videos together and take things out of Context to make people Realize how Deceptive Obama is, he does fine on his own. Just turn off the State Run media for a while and search Global and Non Bias local News Sources, read the last few Executive Orders on the White House website, Watch as Latin America Continues to Pull far away from us, almost saying "Just Leave us Alone", Watch as The Middle East continues into Turmoil & massive Unsuitability, Watch as the World Continues to Resent us as we are Losing all Credibility and Trust. Also PLEASE go to.. Restore the Fourth website, Google that or 1984 Day. Yesterday they Protested in over 20 states and that is just a Taste of what is coming. It is building massive Grass Root Steam and will only get stronger as more people are Aware there's a Movement. Main S Media have covered it on their sites but not Nationally, not Yet anyway. Every single American is having their Rights Violated whenever they Log on a computer or Phone. Your every keyboard stroke is theirs to do with as they Please. Like a Perv who Peeps through your window, there Presence is sickening and it's Affecting the Minds of Everybody as they Second Guess the Words they Type. Voices Silenced our of Fear of the NSA. Scared to say what you feel cause you don't want to Anger them or worried they are Categorizing People who speak against the Gov. These Type of Programs are meant to Crush the Spirit of All who live under them. American Government is becoming Oppressive to it's own Citizens and doing it by Starving the Masses of Information and Flooding them with Useless T.V, and Stage shows of False Patriotism. Americans believe Patriotism means.. Handing over our Privacy for protection, or attacking anyone who Reveals the Violations of the Gov. against it's own. We Are Brain Washed & it's Scary

I was expecting SOMETHING taken completely out of context with complete hyperbole -- and this post did not disappoint.

Not a fan of Obama's continuation of Drone warfare, not arresting war criminals, not jailing bankers -- but to call his "one executive order" a move to bypass Congress when Republicans haven't even allowed him to complete appointing his cabinet in over 6 years? Come on.

Obama has faults but he's bent over backwards to treat the Republicans with respect they do not deserve.

I'm pretty sure it's pointless to point out that if anything we are more in danger of Fascism because of Corporate rule and a judicial system that cannot reign in crooks with deep pockets.

I'm sure that nothing will get through the paranoia. "Barack Hussein Obama" -- that's all you need; a scary soudning foreign name.

The population of adults here is pretty low.

There goes everyone with those blasted executive orders again. Now I know you didn't read this thread I am talking primarily executive actions.

Plus no one seems to notice the numerous times that I mentioned that we have been in a nonstop state of national emergency since Obama has been in office. Do you know what that does as far as giving him additional powers? Before you even say, "but Bush did it", I will say it for you. You see everyone is ready to call Bush evil, but the second Obama has done the same thing as Bush, this becomes the excuse, Bush did it". So which is it, Bush is evil or Obama is innocent because Bush did it also?

When you leave this thread don't forget to remove your blinders.
