I'm not exactly sure if a Christian music thread exists or not, or if it's okay to make one. No worries if not. and maybe some of you will wonder why I listen to Christian music but I do.

I mostly listen to old stuff since I'm old kind of now. Haven't kept up with the new stuff for a while, so if you have your favorites, love to listen to them.

Maybe put a blurb or too why you like it or what it means to you.

My first ones I'll just say are what I listened to a lot when I was going to college out in CA.

I love heavy all the way to praise. As long as it's not too much about Jesus I'm okay.

But I think Christian music is great to worship the real God.

You included that because I'm a wolf in sheeps clothing right?

But sounds good, thanks for the addition.

This is just my opinion, nothing more, but I think most Christian "rock" is hideously lame. It's unlistenable.
I love old-timey gospel, hymns, and spiritual blues stuff. That stuff is real. Pure.

"If I die and my soul be lost...nobody's fault but mine"
Staple Singers...Nobody's Fault But Mine

"On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise, and the glory of His resurrection share,
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies, And the roll is called up yonder, I’ll be there."
The Chuck Wagon Gang...When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder

"Though all hell assail me, I shall not be moved.
Jesus will not fail me, I shall not be moved."
Johnny Cash...I Shall Not Be Moved

I love me some Cash! Or Elvis singing etc.

Just I guess we like what we grew up with mostly.

Thanks for the song reminders.

Nothing towards you per-se, but if the shoe fits, toss it away and get a new shoe.

Just some truths set to music, and some reminders that we, tho we walk boldly, must watch carefully where we care to tread.

They're sisters and they are very beautiful and talented. Makes me wonder if I was a Christian and settling down with a good Christian girl like my mama has always wanted haha.

Both good groups. Here's a few more from back in the day.

Kerry Livgren with (Believe it or not) Ronnie James Dio singing lead.

An old fun song from Petra with Greg Volz singing lead.

A couple more that I hope some of you might like:

Larry Norman recorded a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Knockin On Heaven's Door', but wrote new lyrics.
I think he did a good job.
"Mama tow my barge down to the sea. Give my belongings to the poor.
Two shining eyes looking down at me...I feel I'm knockin on heaven's door"
Larry Norman

Another favorite:

He taught me how to watch, fight and pray
Oh Happy Day

Although I'm no longer Christian, I can always dig me some Five Iron Frenzy and Jars of Clay.

Check out mewithoutyou, I listen to them a lot. Not sure if they're christian per se, but definitely spiritual.
