Hi,

(The source for this thread is me, beware.)

Who gives me stars and on what post?

If a member decides to make me a "rival" I receive a notification. Do I receive a notification if a member wants to make me a friend? I'm not sure it hasn't happened.

So you ask what is the point of this thread?

Why instigate rivals?

HMMMMMMmmm.......think about it.

They have a friend option just as they have a rival option. Rival doesn't automatically you want the other person dead, sometimes it's just difference of opinion and it is that difference that encourages you to elaborate on your position to either make your full case for argument or simply ignore the opposition which weakens your position.

In a sense, a rival may help you convince yourself and other people if you opinion is supported by fact.

There are plenty I disagree with on the forum, yet, I (we) enjoy our exchanges as it makes the discussion less one dimensional.

Conspiracies about other conspirators, about conspircaices?

Mind=blown.

I see what you are saying. Maybe they are pushing people to debate, then find more truth to back up their debates? Or maybe they just want to start some crap? If so can I have the crap? So I can throw it out the window?

Thanks for making me your rival. Be gentle, it's my first time

On-topic: I don't think anybody really gives me stars. I think it's just a site glitch that makes it appear that I have stars. No one has ever admitted to giving me a star

Although, at some point I seem to remember getting a U2U for added friends. I think it's just that people add friends all the time, but rivaling someone isn't as common. Perhaps that's why we get the U2U for rivals? Because it's a more rare event?

Well, I see someone else has removed posts.

If your post was a rebuttal to the removed post, it'll usually get removed as well because your post's purpose was to respond to an already off-topic comment.

There's been a couple of times where I've alerted a post...wasn't patient enough...decided to take matters into my own fingers...posted a rebuttal...and saw both posts eventually removed.

I don't think it's wise to combat an off-topic post with another off-topic post. Make sense?

(at least, that's my take on the situation.)
