Is it against the law for us to create art in this surveillance state we live in?

The Sphinx? By the way, your photo caught it good. They also have repaired the damage to the nose. Who would do such a thing?

Photoshop would do such a thing.

Those dastardly photo-shoppers!

If not, give me an opinion on this.
Is it art?

More like a religion. But to each their own. I don't speak the language, have never been there, and personally think this is pseudo resurrected American Disco, which wasn't art either.

Remember what I said about it being in the eye of the beholder.

According to the article, it sounds like it is using math and geometry to find the similarities between forms of art paintings. It is something almost all paintings contain. I can see how it would be able to do this with a scan the same as reading up on art and what makes art paintings, art.

Something I had to do after I painted something, and really needed to know if it would be considered art or not in a gallery. I was actually shocked at what is now required for something to be considered art, in painting that is.

They made it all complicated when art should be inspiring and fun to the artist and the people who view it.
I can see how it would work, but no one should allow a computer to dictate what is and is not art.

Although it could tell the potential for someone to be great at what they do.

That I can see as useful.

Whoa.

Are you taking the position that religion is not art
and conversely that
art is not religion?

I mean I get it if you are saying that's not your genera of music,
your church so to speak.

But the only fanatics I have met in the modern age are
Metalica fans,
and other flavors of groupies.

Sorry, sometimes I'm not clear...

what I meant was who would shoot off the nose of a ten thousand year old statue?

Or who would chop one of these down? Is this art?

I also feel it has the potential to show us our own blind spots.

Even,
dare I say it,
to take our work to "the next level."

I tell it straight.
I think the megacorporations only have a razor thin edge
on what we can make at home these days, and that
they are terrified if we start using these tools,
not only will we overtake them, but that
we will not need them anymore!

Talk about a power shift.

Meet the Tree of Ténéré.

a solitary acacia, of either Acacia raddiana or Acacia tortilis, that was once considered the most isolated tree on Earth—the only one for over 400 kilometres (250 mi). It was a landmark on caravan routes through the Ténéré region of the Sahara in northeast Niger, so well known that it and the Arbre Perdu or 'Lost Tree' to the north are the only trees to be shown on a map at a scale of 1:4,000,000. The Tree of Ténéré was located near a 40-metre (131 feet)-deep well. [color=gold] It was knocked down by a drunk truck driver in 1973.

wikipedia / Arbre du Ténéré

Also known as the last tree in the desert.

Just like that redwood tree,
this tree was waiting for someone,
anyone,
to make its story into a piece of art,
or a piece of art about it,
so that it would be cherished and it's life preserved.

It's too late for the Sahara, and the last tree in it,
but it's not too late for that redwood tree.

Art is simply the product of the artist.

The artist produces art. Who care what it is.

Regarding "is art against the law", any type of art can be illegal depending on the artist, however, performance art probably tops the list.

ETA: The Graffiti artist produces illegal art for example.

I agree on that.

It would be a very useful tool to find where one lacks so they can work on improving.
Anything to help an artist make his/her own work better than what it already is, is a good thing.
Unless they are full of ego, and think they don't need to.

I understand, I think.
I'll stop here so we can part friends.

I just hazard to advise that there is a difference
between spirit and soul.
Only corporations want us to think they are the same.

/fare thee well friend

A perfect example.

They operate without permits,
without paying a stadium their "cut" of the "door"
and they get an audience without the overhead of distribution.

No wonder the jack boots come down hard on them.

And now I conclude with this video.

When I showed it to member "Mr Mask" he said...

Media-produced mind weapons is another subject I am passionate about. 2 video-games and one TV show is the only media I allow in my head. And even that scares me and makes me question my own identity as a human.

But [color=gold] what you just showed me terrified me. No exaggeration.

A 4x4 beat structure, flashing images, and a chanted mantra...that is all that is needed to program the masses when they leave their minds unguarded.

If you ever see me goose-stepping to a primitive beat alongside a few million drooling drones...please...slap me.

Seriously...that just freaks me out more than I can ever explain. What else scares me is there is no lack of people who will argue its harmless.

Wow...scary.

What is art to you?

To put it simply, art is a physical expression of a persons thoughts or feelings.

Art is everywhere and I would suggest that any man-made item is a form of art in one way or another.

But art is not limited to just items people make. Art is also poetry, music, dance ..... etc.

The quality of a persons art is up to each individuals interpretation though.
