Hello

I saw this footage of the tsunami and motorist trying to escape it and was just in awe of the power.

I know there are a lot videos of the tsunami but I think this is new.

During the time-lapsed clip, a busy bridge is suddenly submerged under water and completely swept away whilst drivers can be seen u-turning to avoid the oncoming carnage, which includes several houses.

Just crazy

At least he had the sense to not sit and gawk at it. I hope it didn't catch him.

That was pretty incredible. Wonder what their eventual fate was. Did they escape or was there a traffic jam up ahead?

Just imagine, your driving along a peaceful road, probably singing along with the radio, when suddenly, right in front of you, an ocean is coming down the road

Wow I thought you said motorcyclist and that would have been intense. But it is kind of funny... those cars show up, and then are like "Oh #" and turn around. The last 10-12 years have been pretty intense.

a typical approach speed is about 50 MPH with an amplitude closer to 30 to 60 feet

In the case of Japan's recent tsunami it reached up to 10 km or (6 mi) inland.

You would have to be driving like you are in a rally race, ... for your life.

Honey you better turn around, there are houses on the freeway today. That last bit when the last car just got away...

There are other bits of footage from helicopters that day and you can see people driving into the Tsunami trying to escape the Tsunami behind them. So desperate. You get the warning, you get to your car, make it to the highway and still get caught.

I haven't seen this one before. Thanks for bringing it.

That felt more intense than any action movie I have ever seen. Those poor guys were put under extreme pressure, seriously doubt I would have been able to act as fast as they did, hope they were able to reach safe land.

if you had a straight road with no obstacles ahead you should be able to outrun it. A car can accelerate to 100 miles an hour. What speed can a tsumani do on land

As a motorcyclist, I'd freak out and end up rear ending someone breaking my leg and drowning. (Typical for me.) I hope these guys made it, I really, really do.

The video really shows the power of the water and what happened with the people as it was going on.
