The music world lost a legend today:

Musician JJ Cale, whose songs "Cocaine" and "After Midnight" were made famous by Eric Clapton, died Friday after suffering a heart attack, the president of his management agency said. His contemporaries considered him a legend, even if many fans weren't familiar with his name. He was 74. "JJ Cale was loved by fans worldwide for his completely unpretentious and beautiful music," said Mike Kappus, president of the Rosebud Agency. "He was loved even more dearly by all those he came in contact with as the most real and down-to-earth person we all knew."

May you rest in peace JJ

Yes we did lose a legend.
Some of the most memorable and classic Blues Rock music came from his mind.

One of my favorite tunes that he wrote, performed by Skynyrd.

He is one of those musicians that no one really knows, but damn near everyone has heard his music. And when he would get onstage with Clapton... just amazing...

Damn!

He was one of my inspirations in my stage days.

RIP JJ...You had one hell of a ride and left a permanent mark on the road near the crossroads.

Peace

I saw JJ back in the 70's in a one man show just him and that rat guitar of his that he had modded to death, hell it did'nt even have a back on it and it was an acoustic guitar. It was him his guitar and a sound board to thump his foot on. It was truly an amazing concert.

Gotta think Clapton meant this for JJ...

Almost enough to make a grown man cry... almost

He already seems like a long lost friend...

Perfect way to end a long day, in any case...

Eric Clapton's solo career definitely wouldn't have taken off without JJ.

Thanks for posting op... yes, such a talented musician Mr. Cale was. I was introduced to his music from a college buddy in 92 who had all of his albums. Troubadour was the first album i owned - JJ Cale was a seriously accomplished singer, guitarist and songwriter and many will argue the man behind most of Clapton's best hits.

Rest in Paradise John

Yes, quite a few artists have fallen through the cracks, it seems. JJ Cale's songs have certainly reflected and made a generation. I also tip my hat to Dave Mason and Carl Perkins. And do rock on my compadres.
