The latest amazing offering is what NASA is calling "Earthsong." The agency's twin Radiation Belt Storm Probes have sent back a recording of the sounds that our planet makes, or more specifically, the electromagnetic radiation made by plasma waves in the radiation belts -- a phenomenon called chorus. The probes have delivered the clearest example of these sounds ever recorded since they're traveling right through that region and because the data is sampled in 16 bit, or the same as an audio CD.

Is this an actual recording by NASA? It sounds "embellished" like other planet "songs".

ETA: Heres the actual recording. This is more like it.

it would be influenced by humanity's EM output, not to mention HAARP, etc.

so embellished it is in a fashion

Actually, Humanities EMF is a whisper compared to the energy in the earths magnetic field (don't forget the Suns "contribution"). Others more attuned can help out, but the OP video is most likely a computer "interpretation" of the signals received by the satellites. I have a thread in my profile on the sounds trees make too. They don't really make those sounds either.

This embellishment of the actual recording is well, embellished. I hate it when they do that. Ruins the real parade. Listen to the real recording again. Our tiny little bird chirp earth. Then compare it to the Lord of Planets, Jupiter. This is long but can be fast forwarded to areas of increased activity which sound like a maelstrom compared to earth.

purplemer?

That's not the sound of the planet, that's the sound of some creator of 'ambient' music called "Astral Luminous".

You can match these tracks by going to 14 seconds on the video that you provided, and matching it to about 2:34 on this video...

I see what you mean.
it would depend on the instrumentality used
so much for the music of the spheres

When I listened to it I didn't really anything that would lead me to think that it was Holy or anything. Its a very deep cave with lots of rocks throughout so it doesn't surprise me that it makes this sort of sound. It is pretty kewl though!

Not counting planes etc that fly overhead sending noises echoing into it.......
