Gazrok. I agree, if I actually lived in the US then it would be my perogative to leave. Or I might decide to change it from the inside. My particular
annoyance with America is with it's foreign policy. And that's the one bit of American culture which I can't ever get away from.
But for other people who have problems with bits of America, why should they be forced to leave the country because they don't like those bits?
Don't you think that's just a bit authoritarian?
And actually, I think my ideal place to live is right here in the UK. Grasmere, or St Ives, ideally. I've heard Toronto's very nice when you're not
in danger of contracting a fatal repiratory disease. I've also heard SanFrancisco can be quite nice, but ultimately I'd like to settle down in the
Lake District I think, Summer home in St Ives.

So Bob, (from Ohio to, be easy on me)
We can let these guys post flaming topics (pretty much against ToS) divert their topics to favor their convenience, flame us all, and we have to be
nice. Land sakes what would W say?
Anywho, I really will never respect them, their ignorance is in accusing us of the same, but I will play nice.
ARTICLE WAS GARBAGE!

And that is fine
I don't dislike you as a person, hell I don't know ya, but I don't like how you manipulate your words to favor the current discussion. I think you
have closed you mind to the American people because of our government, and the way you post, how can we take it any other way?
I would buy you a beer and debate in person, it would be more fun, as the computer tends to make it impersonal.
Until the next disagreement

dom - Toronto is a great place as is San Fran. I'm dying to visit each place again. You would all love my town, Cleveland, having the largest number
of bars/pubs per capita

Actually, there's a LOT of discussion in the international sector that it SHOULD be classified as such. And frankly, I agree.
Furthermore TC is right, this idiot sits safely in his chair wherever, tapping away at the keyboard, not having to dodge the Gestapo...and just
because he doesn't need to be liberated by us, he gets pissed that we liberate someone else.

Did you forget -- the reason we invaded was because Iraq was a huge threat with all the weapons of mass destruction it has and all the bioterrorism
weapons that it was going to fling at us any second now.
You know... all the weapons that we haven't found any trace of? Yeah, that threat.
It was Afghanistan that we were liberating.
If he were in Iraq he'd be cheering too.

But lots of them aren't cheering and lots of them in Iraq are demonstrating against the US.

great place to go! The 'flats' were great when I was younger, but I'm trying to grow up and all. Between the two areas, there's what? About 10,000
bars and clubs? heheheh.

Interesting point...
"But for other people who have problems with bits of America, why should they be forced to leave the country because they don't like those bits?
Don't you think that's just a bit authoritarian?"
Thing is, most of the Americans who dislike those bits...don't even vote for what they want!
My invitation to leave was for those who hate America, not for those who hate some of the things we've done. Heck, I don't agree with a lot of our
current foreign policy (Bush Sr. was a master at this-despite the Japan dinner incident, hehe...), as Bush Jr. doesn't even know basic world
geography, let alone world politics (amazing that a Harvard grad could be that dumb, isn't it? Not when your degree is paid for I guess...)

Well
Flats are for the 18 year olds, actually the "young" side of the flats is dying, and the 57 (no lie) bars in the warehouse district are taking the
24-35 patrons money now, I don't give the "flats" 5 more years, cops are killing the place

Cleveland sounds like it may be worth a visit. My hometown was a major party capital up in the Midlands. 15000 people come in on a Friday night to go
to the clubs and stuff. It actually isn't all that pleasant, but I think English pub/club culture is a bit different to American club culture. In the
North of England everyone gets drunk and then has a fight, in the US you seem to just get drunk and go home. Or at least I got that impression from
New Orleans. Pool tables inside nightclubs. Wicked!
I guess I really want to live somewhere pretty quiet though. Hence Grasmere, population of about 400 people, surrounded by mountains with a lake in
the middle. Such a beautiful place. Anyway... I'll stop going off-topic sometime soon.

Yep, and preferably not alone...that is after all, the reason for going to a club in the first place....

I tell you guys, this is the whole problem with American right now.

you say that we can't do what we want."
Really TC, this article is "opinion", opinion is based on facts. The lady is telling you how she feels about your country. It's a feeling that is
increasingly common in the UK, and across the world. Doesn't this frighten you at all?
This woman is saying that your entire culture is becoming obsessed with violence and war, but that you don't understand what that implys, hence your
disney aircraft dropping bombs that kill people. US soldiers shooting civilians, and none of you care, because they're not American civilians, just
foreigners. As a good Christian would put it; God Help You.
No Dom, the "editorial" is not based on "fact", merely opinion. I'd say it is based more on hate and resentment than anything else.
Our society isn't warlike. Its clear that she has no idea either about American society or what being warlike really is. It might do well for her
to look in the areas from whence trouble seeks out America to see warlike, or at least murderous.
Iraq was liberated in record time, a threat to my family has been removed, and I threat to the Iraqi families was removed at the same time. The
torture chambers are empty, the plastic shredders are quiet, and the psycho that put 10's of thousands in mass graves, many buried alive, is either
dead or in hiding and unable to put another person in a mass grave, and this woman wants to say we disgust her.
Well you know what, Dom, she disgusts me! And you are right, my opinion is to heck with her.
Maybe she's proud of the nations that didn't want to change the political control in Iraq, wanted to continue to allow the people to be brutalized
and for Hussein to remain an immenent threat to our children so that they could continue to make under the table deals with the madman, so that they
could make a few Euros and didn't care about a thing else. Maybe she's just in love with them. She's better unseat her head from her 5th point of
contact and realize that if her nation is ever in the same situation as Iraq, it won't be those other nations that come to her rescue. Not unless
there's something in it for them.
It seems to me that many try and describe the U.S. in terms that would more accurately fit other nations.

these days don't even know what PRIDE is! Otherwise they would smack the TAR! out of thier kids for makeing a disgrace of themselves in public as my
Mother did. Boy I still have scars to prove it. People these days are messed up and weak in the knees. And I blame most of it on the Political
Correct BS we delt with throughout the 90s. I'm sure thats not the only cause but it sure didn't help matters.
