Not mad or annoyed, just amazed that there are still people who give a damn.

In America, if you have sex with a relative, it's inbreeding, in Britain it's Royalty.

Exactly. UK plc about sums it all, and there are far worse things to be bothered about, the monarchy brings interest, a sense of tradition and uniqueness to the UK. Perhaps a USP these days, but when the world is all about commercialism, it would be silly not to.

I'm trying really hard to envisage a time where i fought my boss for my job...

Still nothing. Do the Americans even learn much on the revolutionary war in school these days?

I am in the UK, probably older than you, learned on history amongst other things, and made a comment about human nature having having role models, 'idols', celebrities etc.

Your post didn't make any sense.

I think its a cool story. Someone of the royal family marries a girl who wasn't even a virgin or royalty and they have a child.

There is one member of the royal family who is humble.

Many royal people I wouldn't care, but I like this guy. He doesn't need a princess. It's cool.

And they are happy. He made a good choice. Personality and beauty over bloodlines and status. Good guy.

Honey Boo Boo being famous and all this celebrity worship is clue number one that people are truly stupid and don't have a single brain cell in their heads.
The royals (no capital on purpose) the kardashians,obama,palin,beiber,lohan....get a grip people.

The idea I am breathing the same air as them makes me want to puke.

Also, princess charles and his comment on us being useless eaters, and now another useless royal is born.
The irony is not lost on me.

Telling the Brits to get rid of the Royals is like telling Americans to ditch the Statue of Liberty. The monarchy is a grand tradition, and a symbol for a people who thrive on tradition. It's funny, but my family has been in America since the 1600's, and yet I still feel a connection to our ancestors in Wales.

If the whole "royals" deal isn't for you, then simply ignore it. No harm, no foul.

Good lord, Gazrok, we're probably (albeit distantly) related. 1600's Virginia family here though from Staffordshire, not Wales. De Peshale/de Swynnerton/de Lumley/de Corbeil lineage here.

To the OP: As much as it irritates me a little, too, I think that the reason why it's headlines is a matter of politeness towards one's political allies. If our papers didn't do a nod to the royal birth then it could be seen as a snub. So, although it doesn't affect us directly, it's still the polite thing to do.

Polite doesn't mean right....I get your point though.
Honesty means more to me then being politically correct hands down.

Sometimes calling a spade a spade goes farther with the regular peasant people like me.
Honesty is always going to be a good quality no matter what era in time we are in.

O.K. I'll bite and go against your rant. While I agree the media and propaganda over the whole ordeal is over the top it is still a new life. This little guy has no idea what crap he has been born into and yet he is not even a day old and already people utterly hate him.

Well I for one am happy to see new life thrown into the monarchy and the world. His Dad seems to be a pretty hard working up standing man to me. I wish him all the best an hope society will let the little feller grow up!

I would rather read about a new baby being born and celebrated than all the nasty crude going around everywhere. Yep sorry no gloom and doom here. Just a baby. Ya babies are born everyday and I gave birth to my own three without any glam and headlines! (Thank God) But that is part of their lives. It is never entirely private. As we all know. But we can celebrate a new life and hope he can be a great man some day! Give the little guy a chance!

The whole family is behind all the world wars, drug trade, and enslavement of humanity! They are the ones pulling the strings and no amount of 'good works" propaganda can change their absolute abuse of billions of people. There should be no royalty on earth, and everyone should be blessed to keep their hard earned property without fear of taxation, confiscation, or paying for other people's regal lifestyle.

Just do some real study on who backed Hitler and where the so called British Royal Family is really from and why they had to change their name. These scum are the ones destroying the world in so many ways and as dear Prince Phillip says that he hopes he reincarnates as a virus to wipe out the useless eaters.

Talk about hypocrisy!

EDIT TO ADD: And as for this baby, he should not be viewed as simply a baby, but a future blood sucking parasite waiting you use your children for his gain.

Ignorant post.

So you have appointed yourself to speak for all Brits???
Really?

1.Not every Brit likes tea.
2.Not every Brit likes the royal family.

Let others voice their displeasure, its the reason we have a rant section on ats.

whether anyone is sick of 'Royalty, it is kind of interesting, (since the Royals are still encumbent as Royals) that this new baby being a boy, creates a lineage of kings for the foreseeable future. Prince Charles, Prince William, the royal baby and Prince Harry.

The only good thing I see about this is the action. Bookies in Jolly ole' England are reaping their profits as are they in Vegas. (I think in Vegas).

Is there anything more repulsive than the idea of "royalty", a class of people allegedly better than or more important than everyone else, not because of their accomplishments (no no no) but because of their "royal bloodlines"???

This is the first thread on the Royal baby that makes sense. You said it above. The royalists cant get it through their heads there is nothing physically or mentally unique about the Royal family. The are human beings. Why worship them?. crazy.

Id like to see them placed in ordinary jobs and their titles phased out over a few generations.

A while back I saw a documentary with the host Lisa Ling, as she visited North Korea.

It was a rare look into the domestic life of the North Korean citizens. It was quite ridiculous just how they treat their ruler, which - at that time - was Kim Jong-Il (sp?).

The citizens literally worship him at ritual-like alters built in their homes. It seems that they give their faith as if he is/was a type of Gd or other religious idol. One lady even broke down, crying, as she talked about her savior, Jong-Il.

Most people have been led to believe North Korean politics are straight-up evil and detest everything the country stands for. However...

Whenever I think about the royals and the way their people blindly balance them atop a lofty pedastel, situated squarely on their shoulders, I can only parallel it with the devotion found in the citizens of North Korea.

As a matter of course, there are some differences, but the general principle of worship is the same.

The actors & singers, the politicians & presidents who think they are of the same celebrity as those actors & singers, and the world's royal families, all make my stomach turn when considering the real serious issues of our modern civilization.

The idea that one man could stand next to me, with the same - or even much less life experience, and truly believe he is far superior, simply because he was born into 'nobility' is infuriating. All things physically and mentally equal, the entitlement that's instilled into these people (specifically the royals) from birth is, in my opinion, a perversion of what it means to be a real human.

These people are not on planet Earth and we should all agree to stop treating them as if they are. Whenever they begin dealing with life, the same way people they believe to be 'beneath' them do, maybe I wouldn't feel this way, but their privileged lifestyle is something I will always detest.

Please don't misconstrue this as jealousy, due to my lack of fame, celebrity, or royal blood. I feel this way due to their extravagant lifestyle in relation to those who exist in situations well below any acceptable poverty level on a day to day basis.

It could be argued that I may have a different opinion, were I born into royal nobility. Maybe I would, but it is really a moot point, since I was not launched from within the womb of a royal princess of nobility.

And dont give me this crap about the revenue from "their land" offsets their expenses. "Their land" was stolen from peasants simply because they felt that it was their "right" to take it.

Didn't you lot on the other side of the pond steal a bit of land a few hundred years ago because you thought it was your "right" to take it?

And what about the Brits? How long are you going to allow this monstrosity to exist? Oh wait, thats right, they took your guns...

Are all Americans obsessed with guns?....we Brits get it!.....you've got guns!! your all armed to the teeth and are total bad asses!

You ain't got morris dancing though have you eh?!!......and nobody's taking that of us!
