On the one hand, I do not personally agree with the objectification of the human body, nor with "entertainment" which revolves around intimate acts, which ought to be shared only between the consenting adults who are a part of such an endevour, rather than them, the cameraman, a fluffer, the director, his PA, and the entire bloody world at once. I find the idea totally abhorant as it happens, but for all that I am but twenty eight years of age, I am somewhat of an old fart.

However, the idea of a flat out default filter, seems somewhat draconian even to me, with my general disagreement with the whole premise of pornography.

I couldn't care less.



Ban porn. It's just a naughty little titillation that can easily turn into an addiction.

Watching too much porn is known to cause erectile dysfunction in young men, and decrease their potency when they unwittingly find themselves in the company of an actual and willing female. Therefore, wouldn't the 'NWO eugenics division' be promoting porn as a population reduction tool?

They also made possession of porn simulating rape a crime. A completely victimless "crime". Once again it is proven that UK is a country with one of the most callous attitudes towards personal freedoms and freedom of speech. 1984 here we come!

to be blunt - if you want porn restricted - you restrict it - in your own home / business / servers etc etc

its not rocket science - " parental control "software is freely availiable from many outlets

abdicating such duties to government dictat is utter laziness

this crap is the ` thin end of the wedge ` - restricting porn to " protect " children - simply puts in place the mechanism to block further accesses - as ad when the govt decides to

further - I don't want to have to ask permission for porn - I am an adult

I am not worried that I will be on a list of porn munkies - but that I will have to ask permission for other things later

and that is where I will find myself if the govt gets its way - once they can block "P for porn " blocking anything else is a simple click away

What is this crap ? It's impossible to ban porn. You need to shut down entire network/internet and after that revolution will come.

I cant wait to see the government waste millions upon billions trying to restrict online porn.

Hey that's what friends and family are for.

Years ago when my friend's family had their first dial-up connection, my friend unwittingly ran up a massive phone bill looking at porn. His mother was shocked at the size of the bill and rang the phone company to complain, she was told that somebody in her house was visiting pornographic websites, a lot. When my friend was confronted by his mum, he said that it was actually me who had committed this terrible crime, as I usually called around frequently. His mum, who was an old fashioned religious lady, never said anything about the bill to me, but I did notice a look of mild disgust on her face when she greeted me at the door. My mate of course only told me about the whole thing years after the fact. Friends huh? Who needs em?

This would infringe on so many civil liberties that it is unbelievable. Now I understand that parents want to protect their children but this should be an "Opt out of receiving" option rather than an "Opt in to receive" option.

Lots of people look at pornography but having to get a "marker" put next to your name because you want to receive it is an infringement on privacy. What you do privately in your own home out of view of others is your own business an no one else. Now people will have to contact their ISP and say I want to receive this content and it will be very embarrassing for them to do so.

Not to mention there is talk to block certain types of porn permanently. For example they are talking about "Rape Porn", where two or more adults are consenting and ACTING out a scenario, no one is actually being hurt, they are just acting out a fantasy but now people are being told they are not allowed this fantasy because it is sick and perverted? Consenting adults can even act out these fantasies in their own bedroom if they choose to do so but suddenly if you want to look that up online your no longer allowed?

And where does it end? Assume gay rights had no had advanced as much as it had at this point "Oh we better block all gay porn as well, its damaging to people and could make them gay if they see it!". Whilst were at it lets block "Inter racial" porn as well. Can't have white women being attracted to black men can we! WATCH OUT PEOPLE! THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE LIKING STUFF THAT I DO NOT LIKE! THEY ARE NOT FITTING IN THE SQUARE SHAPED HOLE LETS FORCE EVERYONE TO BE THE SAME!

Oh! I know lets block those corrupting "Alerternate News" websites as well! They actually tell the truth and we can't have the public finding out about all the corrupt and nasty stuff we do in their name, it is not good for them.

This is a very, very nasty slippery slope and I really hope it is shot down. Information on the internet needs to be free to access, if you want to opt out of receiving certain types of data fine but do not force it on everyone, because before you know it everyone will be having all sorts of data blocked and will not even know it.

Every household in the UK is going to have a government official visit their house and tell them they are a very very naughty boy or girl, especially girl.

Sounds very similar to the fool trying to sue Apple due to him "accidentally" accessing a pornographic website.

As harsh as this is, people have to get over there over themselves and stop denying reality outside their nice cotton wool bubble and make choices for themselves.

If I really wanted to I could access graphic clips many times worse than porn on the Internet, but I make a personal decision not to access that material. I don't need a government to "protect" me from this horribleness based around political reasons such as feminism and political correctness.

What's next, Are the government going to selectively filter out the news removing content which may expose the realities and horrors being committed by world governments on a daily basis?

I think what the dudes trying to say is that "They" want to stop people from watching what ever they wish. Its called freedom, we need it, or so i'm lead to believe! LoL

As Boymonkey74 pointed out who decides what constitutes pornography???

Also as to the 1984 analogy well just look out a window at the number of CCTV cameras around. 1984 is in full swing most especially here in the UK!

I call them callous towards personal freedoms and freedom of expression. Which they certainly are. Its fine if you want to stop people watching it, but making it a law? This is not even a matter of politics, but basic human decency. How anyone can have the effrontery to try to dictate this to others is beyond me.

One of the most interesting threads I have read in a long time. You could almost say we are all having a mass debate over Internet porn. A few members gave a spray here and there, while other members copped a real mouthful. I do believe we may be reaching the climax soon, but judging from the heated exchanges, we could well be trading blows here all night.
