Way too accessible for young people.

I was going to say...they probably feel free to vote for it...they're government officials. They don't need porn, they'll just make a call and have whatever fantasy they want delivered to their hotel room.

I wonder if this block will mess with films that contain nudity and graphic sexual scenes?

Cameron says NO basic instinct for you any more!

We feel massively threatened by it, its a danger danger to us. The majority citizen, women are over half the population from 20 years of age on, feels incredibly threatened by it and demeaned and feels sorry for the victims, most want it gone, but its shoved in our faces, to keep women down and abused and objects, and put them in their place....!!!

You speak for all now do you?

Its a danger to society when people can not speak for themselves and others take that as their opportunity to spread their view and say its the view of all because no other speaks up.

If a majority of society want something whats to stop them?

I think the majority are sitting on the other side of the fence and saying, that's not freedom, that's not right even though some see it as wrong. those some have the tools to change what they want without imposing their will on all.

Pornography is not for young people or children. Point is if they are accessing said material then there parents are at fault.

If you don't want your kids looking at porn simply engage the parental controls. No point ruining it for everyone else!

You are missing the point here.
Many of us do not have kids in our homes, I agree that kids should be protected but sorry but why should I have to opt to watch porn when It is the parents who should be opting out to block porn on their PC's.
If I have to opt in I will be put on a list somewhere, it will be like a sex offender list for people who just watch porn. Who can see that list? how long before an app comes out telling folk who watches porn in their area?.
This is the bad parents fault who let their kids do what they want online.
Who decides what is porn and what is not eh?

Oh and someone said Cam is doing this for votes, well he sure has shot himself in the foot just looking at the BBC comments it is overwhelming in favour for an opt out system.

Look, without linking and posting examples...there is PLENTY of normal, straight porn with realistic looking people. There is a HUGE market for "amateur" pornography. People are tired of silicone and bad acting.

Hiding your head in the sand by blocking porn won't solve any problems. [color=gold] How about raise kids that don't want to watch, or care for porn in the first place?

Wow, what a concept.

Tactically,
isn't that the same thing as saying that one should
preserve virginity by teaching the kids to masturbate?

I mean, how does one "raise kids that" as you say "don't want to watch porn."
Are you going to make silhouette charts of different kinds of pr0n
and spend time flashing your youngster?

The ONLY women who don't see this, are a few men pleasers, as some do when they're younger, and the victims.

So, sorry.

I assume your a woman as you seem to speak for women world wide,

however, your words are showing your ignorance,

Porn is degrading to women but what you just wrote "men pleasers" is a complement

Yeah, just let all the kiddies roll around in the hay together and find out about sex that way?

---------
I used porn to learn how to 'do sex'. I understood the mechanics but not the application and thats not a conversation for your parents to have with you is it?

"why do people have sex if they dont want to make a baby?" Also to find out what sexy terms for things mean when over hear an adult conversation as a kid etc

As long as you dont type in some truly dark taboo sex subject, you wont see anything you probably will end up seeing in the bedroom one day anyway.

And how do all the haters of porn know its so bad if they dont watch it? Seems a bit like the abstinent church priests, preaching about sex and whats ok and whats not etc.

OK, yeah...I'd pay to see that. You got me there! LOL

I did an informal poll one night at a get together. We're all in our late 20's to mid 30's and remember the internet in its infancy. We all agreed that anyone that visits those stores that sell dirty movies is just...really old, or really weird.

The same can be said about people that call those 1-900 numbers. I happen to know someone who does that on the side for extra money. I was AMAZED at how many guys call to talk to random women. I accidentally walked in the room once when she was "working".
I was on the floor laughing so hard. But hey, it's paying her college tuition and no one is getting hurt.

If I could, I'd share some of the odder requests she's had.

Aye, there's the rub.

Are we making the world safe for wankers,
or for innocence and virginity?
While it still lasts.

I have another point to add to this discussion that people should really consider......

If the Government, with the stroke of a pen, can block your access to porn. How long do you think it will be before they decide to block alternative news sites, conspiracy sites, or anything else the deem unfit?

The truth is, a move like this sets a precedence to block by default anything they want.

Well, you can shelter them from porn, tell them/brainwash them into believing it's evil and that they'll go to hell forever if they have sex outside of procreation.

Lots of people raised in strict religious homes despise any kind of porn, and wouldn't ever be caught dead looking or searching for it. It's all about indoctrinating your children at a very early age to adopt a set of morals that you want them to have.

Kids are like sponges, if you want to mold them into believing and saving their "virginity" as you put it -- just program them that way. It's like training a dog to sit and roll over.

Personally, I would want my child to think for itself...but then I'm not big on scaring people into behaving a certain way via religious teachings.

As long as the "default safe mode"
can be turned off with a single click,
I don't see the problem.

And this approach goes a long way to preventing
the introduction of more draconian laws.
We won't need or want a prohibition if it's default safe.

This was my initial reaction as well.

Its only blocked not banned, but its the princable.

Why is it not off by default with a request to your isp to turn it on (so you cant be turned on
)

...so...
A world safe for wankers then,
as clicking off of safe search was too much effort
and tantamount to making you join a religion and pay tithes.

All the effort should be put on the full time working parent,
raising children who frequently commute untended
through public wifi while going to and from school.

Oh great, lets ban pornography, tabacco, alcohol, join hands and sing songs. And if we can't ban it then lets make it expensive. And if we cant make it expensive then lets make it tedious. Controls here, controls there.

i hope someday the rest of the world does the same thing . its degrading to the actors and its not much better then prostiution

www.bbc.co.uk
(visit the link for the full news article)

Both actors and prostitutes get paid for what they do. Nobody works for free, unless you are a slave.

Its a slippery slope much like gun control. At least guns kill people directly and warrant some controls.

Most of the corruption is coming from rich people who are above government.

If it's so easy and unproblematic why not have it default off and if you want the filter you can install one yourself? Also most ISPs already probide filters but I bet you didn't know that.

You also seem to have a weird obsession with the word 'wankers' for someone advocating virginity. To be honest half the time I can barely make out what you are trying to say at all.

Also regarding your comment:

And this approach goes a long way to preventing the introduction of more draconian laws.

This is EXACTLY the kind of method they can introduce to then add more things to this filter in hindsight. You are very short sighted.
