My point being as much as Black Americans say they want to be accepted as equal to white they are making the same mistakes that we made by isolating education/entertainment. If our country is so serious about inclusion and affirmative action why so many areas specific to certain cultures? Why because deep down people want to be with their own race (for the most part).

Let this article wet your appetite by Jada Pinkett-Smith (it basically points out the obvious that black women often get the cover of mainstream magazines such as Vogue or Cosmopolitan but we have yet to see a white women on the cover of a black magazine)

There are many TV stations out there that directly cater to Black America-Bounce TV is one of those stations and when you google it you see Bounce TV-TV Our Way...Can you see for a moment how alienating this simple catch phrase can be? "Our Way"

A few awards show that cater to Black America:
The NAACP Image Awards
BET Awards
Soult Train Awards
VH1 Hip-Hop Honors
The Source Awards

Essence.com has an article with the title "Best In Black Beauty Awards 2013"

I wonder how many media outlets would bang the race drum if it was a Vogue magazine with the same article and with the twist "Best In White Beauty Awards 2013".

How do we teach our children to be tolerant and inclusive when there continues to be more and more exclusivity?

Guess we didn't learn from history...

Sorry if I was all over the place..it's a rant but my hearts in the right place...I truly want people to be on a level playing field but I just don't feel as though we as a country deep down want it bad enough...

Way to go ATS..would have been nice to see what link was not allowed on ATS before wiping out the entire post...spent almost an hour putting together a rant that I believe was respectful and brought up some good points..so disappointed but I'm sure you folks could care less...

I basically listed all the private and black colleges (49 private colleges-out of 105), black magazines, black award shows and just wanted to point out that as much as people say they want to assimilate, they end up finding ways to isolate themselves even more. This rant turned out really crappy thanks to ATS..usually I do fine by myself screwing up my own post..don't need the additional help..

Perhaps its just ATS's way of saying "we've had enough Martin Trayvon threads".
Time to talk about something else, because lets face it, by now there is nothing you can say that is original and hasnt been said before. And certainly nothing so amazingly new and original that a new thread needs to be made.

Or as a planet for that matter. I'm an optimistic guy for the most part but the core of me thinks we may just lose this round. We're gonna get an "F" here and have to repeat the grade!

It was an important thread to me...and it put some good perspective on the perception of race in general, no mention of Trayvon..

The link I used was an article published by jada Pinkeett smith and dealt with models on the cover of magazines. She wondered what it would be like if you put a white woman on the cover of a black magazine to break down the barriers..she did a wonderful job conveying some of my thoughts...no garbage links were attached..I'm all about love my friends more so now that I have a family..

I will send the text of your post to you, in a U2U, so you can make any edits you want to avoid the condition that caused a mod to do that action.

As an FYI, I'd highly recommend posters save a long post in a document first, just in case of any such action or even other technical issues, that could cause loss of work.

I'd recommend contacting the mod who did the action, to see what link was disallowed. My guess is the first one.
